This morning at work I found an envelope on my desk, opened it up and it was a card from someone I don't know that thanked me for giving her a smile the other day, she said how much it had been needed and helped her feel better. I am guessing I passed her in the hallway and smiled at her in passing because I always do that, just to acknowledg the other person I guess. Her thoughtfulness to thank me for such a small act really touched me. It also made me think if there are times I am in a bad mood if I have a scowl on my face that could have the opposite effect on someone. I must remember to be mindful!! Just wanted to share. Because mindfulness, being totally here in my body, is something that's been happening through my work with t.

Absolutely agree. I always try to remember this at school and drop whatever has me in a bad mood so my kids get the benefit of a positive me. It isn't their fault if I'm having a bad day, and it does rub off of them. Nothing worse then a roomful of thirty 17-year-olds all in a bad mood.
Thanks for this!

Madame T had an unreliable smile (I believe she withheld it), and that was (and is) a big issue.

In our DBT group.....one of the skills is called the "Mona Lisa Smile".....where you smile even the little smile even if you dont feel like it...but that smile can end up changing your mood (even if you don't mean it at the time because it makes you feel better even if you don't think you do.
