about possible London terrorist attack tomorrow.Apparently all police officers have been called in on duty from tonight. I put it on facebook, and my friend who works in airport security picked up on it and is trying to find out if its real.
Shaking here. Will change my commute. Can feel the cortisol whooshing around my body - sleeping just aint happening. I never spend time worrying about stuff like this but if the police are all braced for something its really alarming... Unnerving me too that the warning has come from my T. Its highlighting her vulnerability to random chaotic stuff as well as mine. She sent it to all her clients to give us the heads up...but what if something does happen. The phones will go down like last time and it will be a case of waiting. World is insane.

ID Girl, that is scary. I was in downtown Boston at a Dr's apt. on Sept 11. Lucky I wasn't in NY of course, but everyone was freaking out just the same (the doomed flights took off from Boston). The public transit system cops were shoving people onto trains because a shutdown was imminent. I remember not knowing right away what was happening as I took the train back to work. I thought that the president was shot or something.
I worry more about the stuff they DON'T catch, like the Boston Marathon bombing. I'm glad your T cares enough to put out the alert. Stay safe!!! |

Wow, I would be really weirded out if my therapist sent me such a warning. I would think that they would leave it to me to find out like any other citizen. It sorta heightens the fear factor.
I understand the feeling to some degree. My father was a high ranking official in the Navy stationed in London so we were instructed regularly about terrorism and kidnapping and were advised to vary our routes to school and such. Also my little housing complex was bombed by eco-terrorists who threatened more. The whole complex was flooded with FBI and ATF agents, police of various kinds, and "spooks" unidentified security types. They made us all leave our homes while they went in. They were allowed to inspect everything, even our computers. They made us produce not just ID but passports and asked a huge number of questions. And said the whole place would be under surveillance. It was terrifying and creepy. I hope nothing happens and everyone is safe.

London Tube Terror Attack Threat? All Police Officers Called Into Met? Police Slam Rumors
It's a hoax. Check it out. Police are slamming it as a false rumor spread by social media.

I hope to God it's a hoax, but the jury is still out - her email said it had been assumed to be a joke but now wasn't so sure.
Growly, I tend to agree with you that in general its the stuff that we dont hear about that is more threatening. Im being daft. Its probably because I dreamt a bomb hit my house last week that its touched a nerve.

IG, i know i read in the paper yesterday that england was on high alert but that there was no actual known terrorist threat. it was more in reaction to that ISIS incident with the guy being possibly british.

Be safe. If it does turn out to be a hoax, is it possible your T had her email hacked and it was sent out to all clients and she was unaware of it? Just a thought ... Be safe just the same

I'm kind of pissed at your T for forwarding a social media hoax to her clients. Have you checked actual news sources to see if this is true?

yeah, even if this turns out to be a real threat it seems strange for a T to send considering she probably has clients who would become fearful receiving it. if i got an email like that it would probably trigger fear in me. not saying that is how you feel though, IG. i just have a lot of fear and it doesn't need any stoking. i did glance at the BBC site quickly and didn't see anything there so i am betting it is most likely not an actual threat.

Yeah I was maybe at most 4 blocks away from the Boston marathon bombing. There were rumors of other bombs planted throughout the city. It was beyond horrifying and basically everyone in my building had acute stress disorder from it. I mean we were standing right where the bomb went off the day before. Someone I know was hurt from it. She's doing great now and is running again and everything. But yeah that's just scary and I totally get the anticipation fear. There was a rumor that a bomb was found outside of Berklee school of music and that's super close to us and we were terrified for weeks. It turned out to be a hoax. Our fear didn't decrease. Two weeks later "a bomb" was found outside our school. Nothing was found and rehearsals resumed that morning lol music school. But the fear that they missed it really lasted until the school year ended. |

I completely agree this highlights her vulnerability and think what she did was unhelpful and unprofessional. If she was forwarding an evacuation order, I might be more understanding. What she is inadvertently seeming to do instead is fear-mongering, never helpful. You are as capable as learning about these things or not as you see fit from the news or Facebook or any other number of sources. I would not want my T as a news outlet. |

Terrorism operates by creating fear... I would think Ts should know better than to send those mails to their clientele :/

I honestly generally don't waste my time thinking about terrorist attacks (if any of us did, we'd never leave the house!) but this just tapped into something and spooked me. It's ok now though. I suppose my background affects how I feel about learning about these things in the news, etc. I come from a place of civil unrest, where bombs and other violence were a regular enough part of everyday life to be quite normal. And we didn't look to the news for information then either - we didn't have social media, but relied on word of mouth and community knowledge of different areas (which ones to stay out of or be very careful about) to stay safe. That all sounds very dramatic, and it really wasn't! I guess last night's email sent those old neural pathways firing though.

Wow, I'm glad it was a hoax but that was a serious lapse in judgement on her part.

Maybe her email was hacked and it sent the message out to everyone on her email contact list.
Maybe you should respond to her emaol and ask of she sent it

What kind of t does a thing like that? Just ramps up the fear factor even more. Guess the intentions were good. Prayers that it will all come to naught. Be safe.
