In 1983, McNuggets, mobile phones, and the internet were invented. Before that was the dark ages. Its too horrible to even think about.
This is a chatty thread. All are welcome. We're kind of psychologically oriented. We try to be supportive. Sometimes we discuss what that means. Its a place to plop down on the couch when you come home from work or wherever, or wake up in the middle of the night, or check in at lunch, rant a bit or not, and be among friends. We advise you not to drink and text your therapist ("t") - we speak from experience. Its like they say about teaching your dog to play cards (or something, i always forget punchlines) - it doesnt work very well, and it annoys the dog. Sometimes the thread moves fast and you might get overlooked; sometimes it moves slowly and all you hear are crickets. Sometimes you get hugged or thanked pages later. So if its a bigger question, you might want to start a new thread. I hope thats everything! If not, somebody else will follow up! ![]() |

Wait, what happened to that "interesting article by a former therapist" thread?

Thanks.
Was it on the other couch? Dont confuse me! The article has its own thread. Oh - wait. No, idk. Maybe it got deleted?? Wait again. I saw a ty post by the op. Maybe then she had the post deleted. Pm me if you need her name to get the article again. I agree, there was a good discussion. |

Yeah maybe it got deleted. Weird, because the thread was a good one, and there were like six pages last time I read it. I wish they would lock threads (and remove offensive posts or statements) instead of deleting the thread all together.

I started it and asked that it be deleted. It got a little weird for me.

Morning all. Not a good night's sleep. Perimenopause sucks. I get tired of waking up in a sweat several times a night. Can anyone commiserate?

On a pleasant note, I have discovered a room that stays about the right temperature to cure some pancetta. I am very excited. If the pancetta does okay - I have another curing project which is a bit trickier in terms of temperature, mold, etc. Pancetta is supposed to be one of the beginner ones to try.
But where is the fun in eating if it doesn't carry some risk of serious food poisoning?

Has anyone seen Into the Woods yet? That is our movie plan for tomorrow morning. I've heard from people who love it and people who said is was so-so. All people whose opinions I would trust (musical theater people). I suspect I'll like it. I'm not a terribly picky movie person.
Ran into my pdoc today. I haven't seen him formally since April. He's located in the same office as my husband's pdoc, so he saw me sitting there and said hello. He was glad to see me doing well. (And I was glad to not have to pay for an office visit to just go in and tell him I'm doing well. ![]() |

I hated the play. But I am not usually a Sondheim fan.
Much more Rogers and Hammerstein and Andrew Lloyd Weber. Even Lerner and Loewe. Not to mention Gilbert and Sullivan. I admit I rarely like movies in general. I hope you enjoy it. I would have liked to have been a musical comedy partner with some one.

It's a dark play; people may not realize that going into it which might be why they don't like. I agree with liking the other writers you mentioned more than Sondheim.
I LOVE going to movies though we don't do it all that often -- just too expensive. So I'm usually a pretty forgiving audience. My sister gave us a movie gift card for Christmas, so we've gone to see The Hobbit and we're seeing this tomorrow. The other I want to see is Unbroken. It was a fantastic book; I hope the movie measures up, but one of my favorite former students reviewed it last night and he didn't say it was awful, but he was disappointed on a few fronts. He ISN'T a forgiving audience though, so I suspect it will also be fine for me. |

I can!! I resorted to putting cheap bags of frozen veggies on my head, I wrote on it "do not eat" with magic marker and kept refreezing it. One time I even stuck one of those things you freeze then put in your lunch box, down the back of my shirt to cool me off. In the grocery store, I would be just like in that one commercial on tv - opening a freezer section door and sticking my head inside. lol

I'm sitting here thinking why does my nose hurt? And then I remembered. At some point during the night last night I got up to go to the bathroom and I never turn the light on, which is usually not a problem, but last night I guess I was a bit off and when I went to sit on the toilet I was in the wrong place and conked my nose on the towel rack that's right across from the toilet. Ouch! Laughing at myself because I totally forgot about it and it took me a minute to remember. I must be getting old.

I'm so ready to talk to t on Wednesday. It will only have been 2 weeks but it feels longer. I was in such a weird place on the 19th, and have worked through some stuff on my own since then, it's almost like I've traveled from a different planet or something.

Is it sad that I'm bummed that I can't have a glass of wine because I'm still getting over my sickness? It sounds blech to me right now.
I think because enjoying an episode of a funny show with a good glass was a way to unwind after the toddler goes to bed. Ah well. I think I'll soak in the tub with a book instead.
