I am doing a comparison of pre-seared versus post-seared pork chops by water bath method. And roasting broccoli.

Oh I already know I have huge issues surrounding vulnerability. Some days I will journal something that, at the time, makes perfect sense and I think it will help or is is the source of my issues. Then the next day I feel the complete opposite and be on about something else. I've never made such little sense in all of my life.

These days my journal is full of to-do lists. I'll be writing and think of something and I break off my thoughts and make a list. Then I'll make phone calls and put numbers and appointments... Yesterday I was scribbling things down in my meeting with my advocate. Then back to thoughts, then more phone numbers, then another list. Last night I drew a stick figure picture of my T beside one of my lists...

I shall report back. There are various yeas and nays to pre-searing. Post searing must occur or it looks weird and is soft. But the idea behind the pre-searing is to cook it with the seared flavor. Some posts compare flavor of pre-searing (good) with texture (some report not as good) or effort - not worth it or not noticible. Lamb is the one you are not supposed to pre-sear due to the strong-ness of the flavor as it is which can get a bit intensified from sous vide.
I love this sort of stuff.

I've never had roast broccoli, but it sounds good. I like it crunchy, preferably raw. My mom likes it cooked til it turns into grayish green mush. :yuck:

Post searing does add some flavor too. All searing adds some flavor as well as the crust which is texture rather than appearance to me.

TGIF! We only taught through 11:20 this morning as an academic competition was being held on our campus, but teachers still put in a full day. We couldn't be in our own rooms because they were being used, so the English department decided it was a good time to clean out our storage/book room. What a mess to go through! Looks much better now; we can actually find what we need again. But I'm pooped.
Time to take the fam out for dinner. The boys are starting beg for food and I'm NOT cooking. |

Bah. BAH.
I hate medication. I just messaged my PDoc (for the SECOND time this week). I'm starting to think the med is making me worse and that's the reason for my recent emotional breakdown. I've been on the new med for three weeks. This week I literally have spent everyday in tears. That's not normal even with my horrible depression. I don't cry. My husband thinks I'm worse though he can't tell if it's in conjunction with the med. I'm sure my PDoc was just thrillllled to hear from me again *sigh*

SD I'll take a double helping of roasted broccoli and your pork chops sound nomnomnom whether pre- or post- seared.
Another fantastic roasted vegetable is Brussels sprouts. They crisp up and burst with flavor. Must make again, the girls fought over them! I tried to roast asparagus but something went horribly awry and I ended up with twigs! Can't win them all!! |

Hi Couch, I know I have been quiet lately. Just a quick question..
Has anybody done EMDR? Did it work, did you like doing it, how often and how long were your sessions? Any other things you want to share? T suggested I do it on top of my sessions with him.

The post-seared pork chop(sealed in vacuum bag with a bit of olive oil and basic steak rub I make) was very good and so was the roasted broccoli (15 minutes at 450 tossed only with a bit salt and olive oil). The pork chops were so big we decided to only try the one tonight and the other tomorrow.
