CAT I wish I had the strength to do that . my farther is basically disowning my son because he is getting out of the marines and he doesn't want him to .so basically to my farther my son is a looser . that boy has accomplished so much in his short life . he is a Sargent in the marines an embassy guard. is decorated because of his work in toyko during that huge tsunami few years ago . he has excelled in everything he has done . he is now accepted in one of the most prestigious culinary schools in the us . he has also traveled around the world in the last 5 years. he has top security Clarence and he is only just turned 23 . but my farther says he is a looser and wont have anything to do with him because he wants out of the military and move on to the next phase of his life

I think hes just thinking of the money. The service isnt what it was in your dads day, its so dangerous. Thats what i would say to your dad. Its not even expectations or disappointment, its hoping your luck doesnt run out. Maybe hes worried and just doesnt want to admit it? Im worried and i dont even really know you!!

He sounds very accomplished! My mom was like your dad. My husband went back to get his masters to be a teacher. My parents didn't like him adding on debt and felt he should support his family, so she threatened to change her will and suggested I divorce my husband. So, right when we were down, they kicked us. I never forgave her for that.

And, who took care of my mom often, treated her like she had never hurt him and takes my dad out to lunch all the time? The son-in-law they didn't like. Wow, he's a saint!

I was a disappointment to my dad, too. Only after he was dead did I find out that he was telling other people how proud he was of me. (Well, not quite true. There were a couple of occasions that I remember seeing him actually proud of me. I cherish those memories.)

Anyway. Your son has accomplished a lot and you have been a really good mother to him.

I wish my job paid for my therapy. Our coverage has almost run out for the year... and it is only March. Sigh. I'll be out of pocket in another couple sessions.
