I have never worn flip flops past trying them on once or twice. The little rubber thing between my toes was never something I could get used to having there. And they never seemed to be able to protect my feet.
My students do wear them year round-particularly the men. When asked, they always shrug off the cold.

My mother would rarely if ever wear shoes unless actually going to church or the store or something. Her feet were disgusting to me. She would not allow us kids to wear shoes during the summer (except to church, etc) because they were "too expensive" even though both my parents smoked like chimneys and drank tons of soda. We each got one pair of those rubber flip flops for the summer and had to make them last. I remember stepping on a really rusty nail that drove through the bottom way up into my heel and having to sit there while she lied to the doctor about how I insisted on going around in those crappy flip flops and she could not make me wear shoes and it wasn't her fault I got hurt, that my feet were so calloused and had dirt embedded in them, etc.

No wonder I have issues about feet, huh?

Once it becomes warm, I live in Teva sandals. I will wear them with just about anything I can get away with.

But anything where there will be whirring blades or possible foot pain... I wear sneakers.

I love Keens and wear them pretty much nonstop all summer long. My feet still have tanlines from last summer, lol. The previous pair I owned lasted for 3 years, and I just replaced them with the same style. I like that the toes are protected, since I work outdoors throughout the warmer weather and it's too risky to leave my toes exposed.

They're not the most attractive footwear out there, that's for sure! Still love them, though.
Couch 92 Found my shoe

I like flip flops, in theory, but they never seem to stay put on my feet. I usually will just wear them around the house/yard. Wearing them out and about just drives me crazy.

I have a pair of keens that are more closed in than those that I use for my slippers. I don't usually go barefoot even in my own house.

I'd wear my Tevas 24/7 if I could. I love them. I don't much like walking barefoot because my feet are kind of deformed and it starts to hurt after about half an hour. However I spend 80% of my life around horses which means I spend 80% of my life in boot. Exposed toes and horses are a bad combination. ..

Baseball day today. I love watching the games. I do miss living where I used to and frequenting the stadium on a weekly sometimes twice or more a week basis. It was a good distraction for me. Now I have to settle for my games on the telly, which is still good.

It is pouring down rain here - good thing I cut the grass yesterday. I may need to cut it again on Wed or so. The dogs like it better when it is short - they are not water dogs.

I don't like going barefoot for anything so there is that.

I'm not adverse to blowtorching either. The grass at home is soft and mossy and I used to love the feel of springy freshly cut grass under my feet.

Now I pretty much wear flip flops year round. I even made myself tabby socks for the 2 weeks of cold weather a year we get here in AZ.

It's true! My first pair lasted 3 years, even with me wearing them pretty much every single day between May and the end of September. Went hiking in them, wore them all around the city, whatever.

No way! Veterinary medicine kills them readily! I have yet to find a brand of shoe or boot that lasts more than a year for me. ..mud, manure, water, blood, horse pee, LOTS of walking, horses stepping on them...I killed a pair of Keen hiking boots in 6 months...the last came apart....

Sounds intense--I think your situation is a bit of an outlier. What do people typically wear in your industry? Can anything live through that?

I am back into insomnia. It is not at the point where I am desperately sleepy yet - just at the extremely tense and can't sleep for more than an hour or two at a time stage. Any little noise or movement wakes me up and I can't fall back asleep. Right now the part that is bothersome is how tense my muscles are.

SD hope you kick the insomnia soon. Sleep deprivation is a form of torture.

Shakey and Ellah, I too need to stick my head back in the sand and let my life stay on autopilot without me. When I'm steering I can't keep it on course!

Does anyone have a compulsive spending habit? Trying to figure out if I'm just irresponsible, or if this is an unhealthy coping skill I need to bring up in therapy. Blah. And figure out how to come up with the shortage for this months bills, of course!

Have a happy Monday couch!

I'm always shopping and spending right now seems like the deeper into therapy and the more distraught I become the more I spend.... T keeps an eye on it, and whenever she notices a new anything in therapy asks me if it's new or when I got it.
