Yeah, when it happens with three therapists in a row I really begin to think it's me. I do not care one iota that "people make mistakes." It's a job and I'm paying you to be there. If I just "forget" to show up to work one day, can I just say to my boss, "oh, it happens"? No. And at my work people don't come see me because they feel suicidal or abandoned, and yet I still manage to remember to show up.

Thanks to everyone who's been supportive; I plan on telling my next therapist all of the things that make me apprehensive and let him know that after being mistreated for years I have a zero tolerance policy for any BS, unnecessary lateness, forgetfulness, etc. If given decades of practice and years of schooling he can't abide, then I'm just done with therapy and letting the meds do all the work.

I hope next therapist is going to be good. Don't give up. I think I probably misread that all three Forgot appointments ( ouch)or maybe you meant all 3 sucked. Wish you luck

One (combined therapist/psychiatrist) simply never responded for a week when I asked for a refill + to book a new appointment. The second would have me come in around noon for his first appointment of the day; he'd get in late and spend about a half hour making calls to other patients before he would see me, would take calls during my appointment, and dozed off during a session. Prior to these two, I had someone who forgot everything I told her so I could never make progress because every week I'd have to explain who this person and that person were and why they were important. So the last 4 people, yesterday's POS included, have all been scarily inept!

He dozed off during a session?!? Wow, that's really...I don't even know what to say about that. Sorry you've had such bad luck with T's/p-docs. And I hope your next is much better! Not that it would take much...

Dozed off? Omg.
My t has been periodically answering phone calls, they are brief, few seconds but still so annoying. But I think I kind have high level of tolerance. But dozing off. It's like from a sitcom. I'd scream to scare him lol

Yeah, I wasn't 100% sure but his head was down and he wasn't moving, responding, or taking notes. The phone ringing seemed to wake him up and give him plenty of energy to discuss other patients' meds without asking me to leave the room, though! Sleep and a HIPAA violation, what a session, lol.

This to me is what makes it more than a mistake. I am no longer surprised by the people who defend therapists to the death. It's weird, but I think it's part of the mumbo jumbo of therapy that is so confusing to people.
