Is it sacrilegious to post a pic of my Ts therapy room?
I guess I'm bad, then.
She collects giraffes.

The large stuffed giraffe was a gift from her staff....

None of my Ts has ever had a computer displayed so prominently. Some patients might be intimidated by that.

My T has this massive glass and wood desk with this huge monitor right in the middle. You can't see it from the therapy area. Why would they be intimidated by a computer?

(hangs head in shame) Sorry for my antics last night, y'all. But it had the desired result, I relaxed and had a good night's sleep. My shoulders were so tense by the time I got home yesterday it felt like they were up around my ears somewhere, they are back where they belong this morning. I love my job, but man has it been stressful this week. Not only because of the overtime, but also because of a the mess that January is around there - all the new insurance plans taking effect Jan 1 and so many of them are screwed up royally and we are dealing with the fallout. Have a good day /night couchies and hugs to those who want them.

I'm here, lurking every now and then. Don't have much energy or mind power to think much. Everything just keeps getting harder and harder. Had a beautiful moment with T right before Christmas so that helps some but my head has other ideas about everything and sometimes it's all I can do to just breathe, but I am and somehow still functioning at work.

The Couch rules don't say "You must always be a barrel of laughs," right?

She doesn't sit at the desk during our session. She has two chairs and a love seat arranged for therapy that isn't visible from that camera angle.
She sits in one chair, I sit on the love seat.

CE, why would that be intimidating? Jus' wonderin'.

I read it as only normally depressive - the couch can handle it.

I think a computer could come across as kind of cold and institutional. Also like maybe the therapist was uploading data about you to Big Brother or something.
Thanks for this!

Just had a phone session with my therapist. She's calling back in 2 hours after we've both had time to let things sink in. It was useless. She's useless. But I'm scared to stop seeing her.

It's basically this conversation, every time:

Me: xxx
T: Try x, try y!
Me: Already tried, didn't work.
T: You're always saying that!

She pretends she can help me, but she can't.

You know you are a total geek when you get the notice that the books you ordered have shipped and you find yourself chanting, "new books! New books! New books!" While doing a little happy dance.

Thesaurus for "new books, new books, new books!" would be "fresh tomes, pristine volumes, unused publications!"

I cannot permit myself to buy books unless I truly need them. Otherwise I would have to have a house just for the books.

E-books are a great thing to me.

I do read mostly ebooks for novels, but I still like having real reference books like dictionaries, thesauruses, etc.
Of course I still bemoan the loss of the card catalogue because I like browsing through them and seeing what was there. I read more things I never would have thought of on my own because of the card catalogue

I have way too many books and not enough brain power or the ability to focus to read them. I used to read about 100 books a year. Since I started therapy I've been trying to read the same damn book. I keep buying them. Maybe I just need to schedule some reading time and just force myself to do it. I love reading but this therapy stuff is hard.

I think we have seasons of life. I was a huge reader but then I had children. I feel like sometimes my posts are half incoherent because I'm stopping mid sentence to handle them.

I love them. I just miss having an uninterrupted thought.

My husband gets up with them so sometimes I lay in bed and stare at the ceiling and just think. All the thoughts. ALL OF THEM.

And then I get up.

The only problem with ebooks is there are SO many books. Easy to keep buying them
