Tapering off meds is hard! My sleep has been completely wrecked since. Enjoy your rest, Breadfish. It's cold here today so I'm snuggled in on the couch with a blanket and Pinterest, planning a diy project for my living room involving framed mirrors that should wind up looking like a paned window. Of course if I don't post pics, it either turned out badly or I was too lazy to get to it!

After reading about the nightmare in Flint, Michigan yesterday, I lay awake for an hour last night fretting about our well water and then digging through papers to see what the lead levels checked at when we bought our home.

We don't drink the well water (I do use it for cooking). Our lead levels aren't at the actionable level and we've lived in our house for over four years and neither of my children show any issues whatsoever.

YET HERE I AM FREAKING OUT.

ETA: No I don't live anywhere near Flint, Michigan. Story http://scienceblogs.com/insolence/20...lint-michigan/

So I have t in an hour and 45 minutes, the sun is shining brightly (yay!) and I have some notes to share with her about what the psychology of Wuthering Heights means to my own psychology. And a dream (about her) that I want to work on. Looking forward to a good session. Although I have this really weird feeling that she's going to ask some unrelated question as soon as I get there and we'll start talking about that and not get to anything I'm bringing. Hmm.

Happy Saturday couchies!
Thanks for this!

I'm not supposed to have T this week but considering asking for it. Just feel like we've gone off the rails talking so much about work! I need to do grief and loss and we've been off that subject for a few weeks now. Grr! But I have limited sessions covered via medicaid so I do need to be careful. Dunno what to do?

DD I think you should ask too if it's what you want. I've gone back and forth with how often I go.... at first I went weekly, then we went down to every 2 weeks, I've done twice a week for a short period, I've taken breaks here and there, went back to weekly for a bit, now I'm back to every 2 weeks. A big part of therapy for me has been learning to ask for what I need.

I am hoping that bowls of vinegar will rid the house of the burned smell that is now present. I had an unfortunate oven incident and the after effects linger.

Back from t. We talked about what I intended to which was good! Before we talked about the dream, I did ask her "Why when I have a dream about you, I always have to say 'dream-you' but it's not 'dream-I' or 'dream-me'?" She said you can say "dream-me". I was like yeah I know but I mean, what's the difference between "I" and "dream-I?" She explained something about I being ego and dream-I being some big therapist-speak word that I've forgotten so I just dropped it. Anyway, I did tell her the reason I asked was because in one part of the dream, I don't feel like what dream-me did was something that I would do in real life. We had an interesting discussion about the dream and it led to a couple good insights on my part, and I figured out where to start with an Active Imagination to work with it a little more on my own. I shared with her my thoughts on what the psychology of Wuthering Heights means to my own psychology. There were some really good insights in there too, and I had a couple more while we were talking. And she said I did really good work today. She doesn't often say that as emphatically as she did today, so when she does, it makes me feel really good. So all in all a really good session.

How do you even remember your dreams to talk about them? I swear if I dream I never remember them. The dreamwork sounds interesting.

Me either. And when my brain does allow me to remember one, I'm clueless about why. Really I can't remember my dead relatives that I miss so much, instead I dream of getting cheated out of an awesome pair of shoes at a big sale.

It took practice at first for sure! I keep a notebook and pen next to my bed, so I can write them down immediately upon waking. (ETA I have a box full of spiral notebooks containing 4+ years of dreams.) Sometimes I write them down in the wee hours of the morning still mostly asleep and don't even remember writing them down and can hardly read my writing. But I've been a prolific dreamer my whole life, one of the reasons I chose this t is because her profile talked about "dream work". I never knew it was a "thing" before that, but always knew there must be something to dreams since mine have always been so real-seeming.

I type them up and then bring them with me to t, and give her a copy, and then I read them out loud loud slowly and we talk about them. I could go on and on about dream work. It's my favorite part of therapy.

Neither of my therapists seem especially interested in my dreams.

This is good, because all my dreams are nightmares. I dislike talking about them.

My media cabinet hides a million dirty secrets. Too many DVD's and VHS tapes to even talk about. It's also a place where old phone books and remote controls went to die. I'm about done emptying it and tearing it down. I've got something low and modern in mind, this hulking behemoth is neither. Fun times!

Uh oh!

My sister (who prides herself on her baking skills) one time forgot to put the flour in chocolate chip cookies. There was no explosion, but the burned mess on the cookie sheets did stink up her kitchen. I still tease her about it. How does one forget to add flour to chocolate chip cookie dough?
Thanks for this!

I used to keep a dream journal because I was curious about my dreams.

Turns out I have chronic nightmares.

I've now trained myself to forget my dreams. It's better this way. I dug up the old journal a couple years ago and it was like every dream was horrible! Now it takes *a lot* for me to remember a dream.

As for my T, I think he was only concerned that I was having chronic nightmares and bad dreams. It really doesn't bother me anymore.

It involved pastry and filling. The filling removed itself with force from the confines of the pastry prison.
