Funny, my future ex-husband also liked to discuss such things. In his case it was that History Channel show that would compare soldiers of famous armies: Mongol Hordesman vs. Roman Legionnaire and so on.

Yesterday I got off my *** and changed my sheets and washed my hair (it really was disgusting ) put on fresh pj's and I slept really well and I am feeling a brighter this morning. I may clean the kitchen today and ring the real estate to get the gardener around so I get to the bins so I can take my rubbish out. With all the rain its like a jungle down there.

I've just been severely punished, took all the girls shopping this afternoon. Back pain kept me in the car, so the punishment was mitigated somewhat. Came home with 2 cans of Krylon Looking Glass spray paint, turned the glass door of the late entertainment center into a mirror. For $18 and some sweat equity, I have a large vintage looking piece to hang above the couch. The finish is more antique mirror instead of my other mirror project. No pics yet, waiting for paint to dry and lost my light.

Found the perfect window in the ex's stash of reclaimed building materials from the house he remodeled. I'm guessing it was built in the 50's? So after I clean it up I can work on framing up yesterday's disaster.

Lest I sound horribly conceited, we are not enamored of staring at ourselves, it's just way too dark in here. Mirrors on windowless walls should help bounce our minuscule natural light around.

Hope the Couchies had a good weekend!

SM - your industrious ways seem at odds with your avatar label.

And I enjoy the history channel - except for the cheesy parts where they act it out. I really love watching the Terry Jones ( monty python) history videos. They are great.

I am at the stage at my visit home when I want to stroll into the parlor in tennis whites and say, "What ho, Mater!" in my best British public school accent. (My mother was born there and has serious Anglophilia.)

But I'm leaving tomorrow. Phew.

Yeah, I'm a puzzle. I do slug around on work days then try to do everything around here in 2 days off. She looks exactly like me on Monday mornings!

There's spray paint that can turn something into a mirror? Wow! Right up there with chalkboard paint/wallpaper...

So my mom (who's trained to do taxes) told us that we're probably going to owe like $4,000 in federal taxes this year. These are the perils of working freelance for a company that doesn't take taxes out--and making lots of money from them. I get it. And we're apparently in a higher tax bracket this time because we made more money (H got a raise). But this sent H into a bit of a rage because we supposedly made x thousand more compared to the previous year, but we don't have the savings to show for it. He claims he's not blaming me, but clearly he thinks that I spend too much for the smaller amount I make (I'm also at home when our daughter gets home from pre-K and on her days off, saving money on daycare/sitters). Like he was slamming doors and throwing things around. So tomorrow should be a fun marriage counseling session...

I thought you were looking at new therapists - are you moving?
I think moving is stressful.

Tomorrow. Only for a few months.

The fewer things you have, the less stressful it is. Plus they are mostly in storage now.

Massive headache that Tylenol is not touching. Back pain for over a week. Right knee also grousing, this is not the one I had surgery on. Insomnia due to pain (or excessive napping?) not helping. Can't manage to get my damn feet warm.

Can I get some cheese with my whine?

Good night couch.

Florence King died. She was like a contemporary female American Oscar Wilde. At the start of her writing career she wrote for like "True Story". I remember being very confused when the heroine said the calendar told her she was pregnant. I was like, how do calendars KNOW???

My father has just died.

I don't fell much at the moment: relief that it is finally over; irritation that I have to go to the funeral.
