It could be possible that someone just really does not know how to respond in a way the speaker would like. I never know what to say or do when someone tells me stuff like that - I don't usually get the point or I respond incorrectly to what they want if I try to really respond. I now usually just try to smile and look interested and say noncommittal things.

Keep your special stuff to yourself. I know you so want him to share it with you, but you wanting it is not enough, he has to want it too, and it sounds to me like he'd rather keep you miserable. Some people will do that - take all their 'pleasure' from another's misery.
Remember you're not alone

Thank you!! My heart is just so numb.

He of course, went to bed and shut the door, which is fine with me. I'm out of his zone now.

There was a hesitate cry from inside to not share that, but I did. I will take your advice and keep it to myself, for now.

Trying to figure out how to get myself to a better place so maybe we can be better. I agree with you too that some people like to some people like to take your good place and make it a bad one, for their benefit.

Good luck on your paper!!

There's a huge difference between not knowing what to say and being deliberately (or even accidentally) hurtful.
I just got back from a weekend with some of my family... You could call it a refresher course in that sort of thing. My aunt will often not know what to say and back away rapidly from the subject. Sometimes she will be accidentally hurtful. Now, my cousin's wife on the other hand... Watch out for that one!

I probably am accidentally hurtful - I usually think people are playing if they tell me things they say are beautiful - particularly if I don't think the thing they say is. I had to learn not to respond in my natural way to most people because I would think they were playing when they were not. And then the incredulity that they meant it was not all that soothing to them either it seems. So I learned the better part of valour was to do the sort of murmur and nod and not listen closely lest my face give me away.

Thank you! It's just a weird place.

Trying to be more open with someone who doesn't see things as you do, is very taxing to find a communication language that we can both speak together.

I doubt it Stopdog. You are very aware that people often respond differently than you would, and you respect that. My aunt does more of a 'I can't handle this so we're not talking about it' thing.

But see, here's the thing.....

He had his mean comeback. His words. I walk away because I can't talk with him in that frame of mind without him becoming more ugly than I can deal with. He's asleep. I'm up sorting this out here.

In the morning. It will be like nothing ever happened. "Good morning!" "Did you sleep good?" "Are you ok?" The Couch - Cent Dix (110): A Little Bit of Everything, A Whole Lotta NothingThe Couch - Cent Dix (110): A Little Bit of Everything, A Whole Lotta Nothing

JS - Thanks - but I sometimes do respond with what I am thinking without stopping to censor. Usually not, but it can happen. Not to good result usually, but still.
Sensitivity about why people are telling me (or worse "sharing" with me) is not my greatest strong suit in real life.

Well, I watched the 28 minute video for my paper in week 3 and the 25 minute video for my group paper for week 3. I responded to the one for the group, since learning team discussion posts don't count towards participation (only posts in the main classroom), so it doesn't matter if I do it early. Now just to wait until 3am my time to post my reflection to the individual paper video. I will start my chapter readings tomorrow. Only 4 chapters to read this week (last week was 8), but we have 4 articles to read and 3 videos to watch. I have all week though.

Wow, I don't think I will make it to 3am. I think I will write my reflection in word and save it and post it when I wake up tomorrow. Sounds like a plan. I need sleep. Night, couch.

Morning couch.

Just wrote my video reflection. Now to start reading my chapters. I want to get this stuff done early this week, so I am not rushing at last minute that I was last week. I have during the day this week, so I should be fine. Spring Break is great. I needed a break.

What's worse - a doorknob confession or saying you'll email her instead and doing so immediately after session? -.-

I don't think "worse" applies - it's just a matter of do you want a response soon or not? (Assuming she responds to emails.)

Hey all, could use some pocket riders for NP appointment in about two and a half hours. Anyone wanna come along? In for a brutal discussion and not sure how it's gonna go. Could go well...could go really bad...but either way I could use some support. Thanks.
