I am looking forward to summer school starting. I don't do well with weeks upon weeks of unstructured time. I have some court work, but not daily. I have my days and nights backwards and the dogs don't do well with being awake all night and sleeping in the day so I sleep for a couple of hours and then they demand breakfast.
And this stupid sinus thing continues.

Among the top 10 awkward times to bring up politics, I wonder if the dentist making his views (which of course are diametrically opposite to yours) known when he has his drill in your mouth would be no. 1 or at least among the top 3...

I'm pretty sure I am really a vampire because left to my own devices I end up preferring to be awake all night

It's quite difficult to eat rice with chopsticks when you're shaking so bad.
Stupid Chronic PTSD.
Stupid Adrenaline.

Hopefully my cortisol supplement will get here soon and see if that helps.

Fencing is the one sport where I have won trophies. Zorro and I will be there. Although why we would fight over baseball is beyond me (not to mention the overkill with the blinky picture and the exclamation points). I am not stopping the sport - I just think it is the most boring game ever invented. I find golf more interesting. Mostly because if I go to a golf tournament - I can walk around - so there I am doing something too.

I once played a game of softball - it was when I was about 15 I think. I remember that the rules were incomprehensible and the game mostly consisted of standing around and watching people not hit a ball. (Our closest equivalent does not involve someone else throwing the ball at you when you're supposed to hit it.)

By the way, stopdog, while you're on the line (which is a Swedishism, I know that - my English is deteriorating) : it is Ruddigore, is it not, where most of the characters are called Murgatroyd?

Yes - I think around 10 characters have that name- and a good number are also ghosts I believe.

I have already worked about 40 hours this week (which is more than a full working week for me since I don't have a full-time job) and so I plan to take a little time off tomorrow. Ruddigore may be part of that plan.

I am NOT a physical being. I don't mind watching sports on occasion, but I have absolutely no interest in playing a sport. Never have. I'm completely a music person. How I ended up married to a die-hard sports enthusiast, I'll never know! He was like an all-state quarterback in high school; I was an all-state musician. I can say he's taught me about sports and tolerates my general indifference, and I've taught him about music and tolerate his general indifference. We amuse each other by attending/watching/learning a bit of the other person's interest often enough to satisfy each other. The ingredients for a perfectly accepting relationship I guess.

I am not a talented sports person, but I would play than watch. (except baseball/softball which is the only sport I find more boring to play than to watch)
Truthfully, aside from classical music/opera/operetta - I am not much on watching anything for more than a short time (15-20 minutes).
And even there it is more fun to be the musician than the listener to me.

The point of baseball/softball is that you are waiting for something to happen. And something always could happen - and sometimes it does and more often it doesn't. Just like life. It's all about the potential. (Also, it is a game better enjoyed the more you understand the strategy and rules - which may seem confusing but are quite logical.)

My first husband taught me to fence (not that I am any good at it). But unaluna will be my second. Her job is to distract you with nonsensical prattle at key moments.

I've always been crap at sports, but I excelled in relearning to walk after my leg amputation. (Really - the doctors and physical therapists all commented on how quickly I picked it up) And now I'm getting better marks for Physical Education than I ever got when I still had 2 legs - I think the teacher admires me for (trying to) participat(e)(ing) or something.
Thanks for this!

Ellahmae - what are your feelings on Chris Sale? Will he go 9-0 tonight? (He's on my fantasy team.)

I would have to put a lot of effort and time into trying to learn the rules of baseball/softball and since I would never be watching any games (it is a very marginal sport here) it seems like a wasted effort. Sorry.

I'm very much not a sports person in general. I follow the top league in volleyball because I have relatives on one of the teams, but that's all - and that's the only sport I've ever watched a live game of, again because of my relatives. I can watch football (soccer to the USAnians) on TV, but I don't go out of my way to do so. We don't have a subscription to any TV channels so it's not something that is delivered into my living room - and then it's too much of an effort for something I'm not really that interested in.

Sorry I never replied to this. I have been trying to phrase an answer that is informative without giving too much away.

Basically, he does two things: vandalises my efforts to do something constructive, and jeers and mocks me while trying to get other people to do the same. It's not as bad as it could be, I know that. I'm just getting a little tired of it.

Judicial baseball case (what passes for fun amongst lawyers)
"But this is not just a case about damages; this case is about baseball! Even the Supreme Court of the United States cannot restrain itself when confronted with mankind's noblest achievements on "Hoboken's Elysian Fields."I think it too much to expect a mere tyro on the district bench to cleave to the issues in the face of that august example."
