My pdoc suggested I break my day into three sections (morning, afternoon, and evening) and track my moods for that time frame. T said I should find at least 6 different moods to track (I can do multiple moods for each section if needed) - but I'm at a loss for what moods to track. All I can think of is: okay, flat, and struggling.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

It depends on what moods tend to be issues for you. For me, in the days when I was tracking, I always noted depression level, anxiety level, and irritability as those were always good indicators of my general wellness. I also tracked sleep, activity level, and made note of stressors to see the correlation between what was going on in my life and how it was affecting my mood.

If you want to actually have charts to fill out, you can find ideas online. I finally came across an app I really liked called Optimism Online: Optimism Mental Health Apps for Self-Tracking. There are MANY apps out there. This one you can use on a regular computer as well as on your phone or other devices and they will sync. It is customizable so you can very much personalize it for what you need to track. You can journal on it, etc. There are simpler ones and different ones; this is just the one I found I always went back to no matter how many others I looked at.
Thanks for this!

Depressive, Manic, and Mixed. Anxiety needs to be checked off as Mild, Moderate, and Severe. Also, for females, always put down when you had your menstrual cycle (just put down a red dot throughout the days). Morning, Noon, Evening - though if you are feeling the same throughout the day, then just write that down in your journal.

There are several websites and apps for mood tracking.

https://www.moodtracker.com/ is what I use.

I've used that one before also. Probably, for me, the 2nd best one out there. Good app.

Thank you for that website, Lola. I will use it for some more ideas. I'm to be tracking certain things, but not in detail because they don't want it to over take my mind. In my alotted space on the form pdoc gave me (essentially it's a blank monthly calendar) I am tracking: Did I Eat? Y/N, Purge? Y/N, Weight, Triggers, Pain, and then three little boxes to 'color in' using a color for a 'mood'.

Good idea on putting my cycle on the mood chart/calendar. Thanks!

I'll have to check this out, maybe I'll use the app throughout the day and then transfer onto paper at the end of the day.

Are you planning on writing down your weight three times a day? In my country that's advised against - if you must step on the scales every day, do it once a day at a set time. (and preferably: only weigh yourself once or twice a week)
Thanks for this!

No the only thing I track three times a day is the mood. My team would like to see me never stand on a scale. Usually I weigh myself several times a day but now I'm limited to once a day and we'll go from there.

Could "good" be an option for the moods?
You could probably break down "struggling" into different feelings, like whether you're sad/depressed, unmotivated, stressed/anxious, etc.
Thanks for this!

Plus one for mood tracker. And you can set up whatever template you want with it. Also it will graph trends, "quantify" moods, and export a PDF to send to pdoc (or whomever)

I don't have recommendations, but good wishes to you for keeping track. I sure wish there were another word than mood for non-physical symptoms, some of which can be debilitating (anxiety, panic, terror). And if not another word, then maybe they can ask people with a broken leg or trouble breathing what kind of mood their body is experiencing.

I so agree with you. I was resistant at first because mood tracking? It's sooo much more than that.
