Sorry to hear you're facing such an unsettling period in therapy right when you don't need it )
She has a 4 entry blog(thoughts about thinking http://blog.mystirainwater.info/about-us/)
and one is titled:
Relationships are hard!!!

That would strike her right off of my list.

Why do therapists insist on decorating their offices weirdly? I mean, the one I just looked at seemed to have a World Wildlife Fund motif (giraffe embroidery/cross-stitch on the walls, stuffed polar bears, leopardskin throws).

eta: not actual stuffed polar bears, of course.
Thanks for this!

Because of the triple exclamation point or the statement of the obvious?

Armageddon would not require 3 exclamation points in my opinion. So there is that, but the statement of the obvious is the more egregious of the errors. Plus the blog is called thoughts about thinking.... - which is just plain idiotic.

I posted an article awhile back that was about what therapist's offices looked like. Some are the stuff of nightmares.

And others of them do study's that show they are judged by their offices:

You can't blame Mysti Rainwater for her name. Its almost certainly her parents' fault

I don't know that I would assume that to be so. The second one I see has name almost that bad and she chose it after divorcing her first husband (her given name was something extremely ordinary like mary (but not mary) and she did not just switch to merry - which would be bad enough).
I have known several women who changed their names to things like Wind Walker and Moon Glow and Flowing Brook and Dancing Antler due to some spiritual awakening/feminist enlightenment/batshit crazy attempt at over throwing of the old name that held them back. Or so they said.

I was trying to swim (not having exercised in three days), but every time I get into a rhythm and let muscle memory take over, my thoughts turn to ex-psychiatrist and No. 2 and my goggles fill with tears and I had to stop after a few sets.

I grew up with kids called Rainbow, Waterfall, Butterfly and their brother Gregory. The drugs must have worn off or they saw the error of their ways when the first 3 got mercilessly teased This was in , what I believe you Americans would call a hick town or backwoodsy.

ETA Both Rainbow and Waterfall were boys to make things worse.

I had a friend who changed his name to Tronster because he loved the movie Tron so much (the original, not the remake).

YOu look so peaceful. I want to try drumming. We have free drum circle every month on the full moon here plus smaller paid ones. I want to try the free one first but its down at the town beach and there are LOTS of people. But once you get lost in the drumming I don't think you care, right?
Thanks for this!

We have smaller circles in the group I go to, but it's true. It's so relaxing, and you kinda just let yourself become one with the rhythm. Sometimes we have one or two people drumming and the rest of us journey to the rhythm, sometimes it's a rhythm circle where everybody drums/rattles and wow the energy when we do those! I love it.

I have seen djembe drums for $50 in the pawn shop. Does it work just by yourself?

Mine's a Remo frame drum (that I painted). I find it very calming when I drum for just myself. I've never played a djembe drum before, but some of the members of our group do. I was just looking around online and found that Walmart even sells them online now!

I may try it as I would need a drum for the circle and it would replace my bike as I used the rhythm of peddling to soothe me.
