It's in their best interest to not let him run wild as best they can for their own careers.

I can only take heart that the majority (popular vote) was not bamboozled by a psychopath, and that my region held firm against the hate. But I am sick about those who did nothing.

On a therapy note, I am kind of glad I'd disclosed something yesterday that I had later regretted, because now that my therapist is probably going to defect, I won't have to live with the embarrassment of the disclosure.

So I stayed up late last night (3:30 or so), slept a few hours, slept through the alarms (I have to use 5), woke up late, ran around getting ready, grabbed my things, glanced at my appointment book, saw I had an appointment with No. 2 before work (her first of the day), and sped off there - not registering that, well, there is no No. 2 anymore. Got there and realized my mistake as soon as I entered the waiting room - another person waiting. Turned around to leave and literally banged right into her on the other side of the door. She looked at me and said, "can I help you?" as though I were a stranger needing directions.

I said "not anymore" and departed with what grace I could muster.

Also, in my rush, I forgot to put make-up on. Good day to scare the kids.

Therapist emailed just now that she's still here, so that's reassuring. I'm glad I have another session tomorrow.

I think I'm just getting a dose of reality where I live (red state but thought I was in a safe blue cocoon within it) -- suddenly people around me are openly cheering the election results (I'd had no idea they felt that way all this while). I think I want to curl up under a blanket for a while.

Yes, I think so. Like Irish Immigration after Brexit (and the Irish embassy in London has had to stop accepting applications for a couple of months to get on top of things.) Nothing particularly strange about it, I think. I have no idea how many applications they get in a normal week but would guess that if, say, thirty thousand people try to access the page at the same time (just to check the info, not necessarily file an application) it might temporarily overload it. The computer dudes of the couch are welcome to put me right :-)

It's chilling. But there are people who will speak out and stand up to drown that out. No one need feel alone against the hate and ignorance.

Well - takeaways are - 1. If you want stg, vote for it. Lookit, us hippies are gettin our marijuana! 2. If they want stg, make them say it out loud, like if they want to grab women by bodyparts. I just hope we dont lose the progress we've made.

Gah, my grader messed up the midterm grading again, after being given very strict instructions about consistency and told to check with me about answers he was unsure of.

Maybe he'll leave academia and grow up to be President.

I don't think that's what was going on here, but I also think there's hope for the future. After all, I never thought I'd see an African-American President in my lifetime.

Of all the headlines I thought I would see today ffront page and centre on one of our local news services, "Prince Harry and Megahan: How they kept it secret" was not one of them.

See, that's keeping things in perspective: a President's term is shorter than your average car loan, but Royals are forever.
