Welcome to the couch, old and new! A place to hang out - sometimes you get immediate feedback, sometimes you don't.
Continued from Couch 124

---------

Shouting, "Cool Whip" tends to bring others out from between the cushions if you're feeling lonely.

This is a chatty thread. All are welcome. We're kind of psychologically oriented, sometimes. We try to be supportive. At times we discuss what that means.

It’s a place to plop down on the couch when you come home from work or wherever, or wake up in the middle of the night, or check in at lunch, rant a bit or not, and be among friends.

We advise you not to drink or drug and text your therapist ("t") - we speak from experience...

Sometimes the thread moves fast and you might get overlooked; sometimes it moves slowly and all you hear are crickets. Sometimes you get hugged or thanked pages later. So if it's a bigger question, you might want to start a new thread.

Couch on, y'all!

Go to the first post on the old Couch, click on the report icon, and tell them there's a new Couch.

Eta: I hope we're surviving a zombie/vampire/werewolf apocalypse. 'Cause I am ready.

I always thought zombies were kinda boring and dumb.

Werewolves, I sympathize with -- they seem to get the short end of the stick what with having little in their control.

Vampires though.......hawt.

Please don't tell me you're a huge Twilight fan...

My personal theory is that whatever undead is currently popular reflects larger sociopoliticoeconomic trends. That doesn't explain why no one seems to like mummies, though.

Yes!!!!!!!!!!! I couldn't get enough of Twilight.

(Umm...to the eternal horror of my colleagues, I'd mistakenly assumed Twilight = Twilight Zone [since I've seen neither]).

Ah, that's an interesting theory -- I do remember coming across conference papers analyzing zombie-ness (?) to make a broader point about some cultural / social / political issue (that I can't seem to recall).

Maybe mummies lost out coz they aren't 'out there' enough? Or, wait, wait....I think all they need is a name rebranding. If they called themselves something other than.....mummies, they might hit the cultural discourse jackpot too?
Thanks for this!

I think it would be nice to look out the window from the couch and see this view. This was taking in Letworth state park in Western NY

My brother is at Laniwai Spa at Aulani, (a Disney Resort and Spa on the big island, Hawaii.)

This is his view from his balcony. I will just pretend the Couch and I are there, too...

Public service notice:

If you have a low thyroid hormone level, your teeth may inexplicably break off and you may also experience a tooth abscess. Your longtime dentist may claim he no longer takes your insurance and you may find it takes a week to get into the only other dentist in your county that accepts your insurance.

In the meantime, your face may swell up until you can only see well out of one eye. Your family doctor may give you the wrong antibiotic for dental issues. She may also under-prescribe pain meds for you to save her own ***.

It is possible none of your doctors will warn you about these issues in advance.

It's a lovely experience.
Just sayin'.

Some TV channel almost always has a marathon of the Twilight Zone on Thanksgiving Day. I recommend the gremlin one - possibly William Shatner's finest performance.

You should probably apologize to SD for the punctuation abuse in your post...

I just got home from a lovely lighted labyrinth walk (for the full moon) with my drumming group. What a blessing!! There were probably 40 people there, quite a turnout, and as usual we had a few curious bystanders who were in the park with their dogs and/or kids who decided to join us and walk, which is always nice to see. When the organizer asked if anyone wanted to share their blessing (she'd written a bunch of them and put them in a basket in the middle of the labyrinth for each person to take one before they walked back out) and I figured since I'm in the training right now, I should probably speak up lol so I did. Perhaps because it was dark and we couldn't really see each other all that well, my voice didn't even shake at all when I shared. That felt good too. I am so relaxed and renewed and ready for the week.

ATisketatasket - i think we needed naps today cuz we are still adjusting to the time change. The time felt as "off" to me this morning and early pm as it did last week. Only noon? No it should be later than that. The older my biological clock gets, the harder it is to reset!

Are you calling me old?! Harumph.

Actually I think I just kind of collapsed between the stress of the last couple weeks and job stress and mother stress. And real crying just runs me ragged. But I'm happy to be your nap buddy anytime.
