Okay, i TRY to be interested in them, but the kind of talking they do is, they show off some knowledge they have of some thing. Or they talk about an experience they had. And you can take a turn and do the same thing, but you CANNOT RELATE any of your experiences to theirs.

Either THEY are the expert on the city bus system, or... nothing! You cant have a CONVERSATION about the buses, or share stories about the bus. Maybe cuz it sounds like im trying to one-up their bus story? Im just trying to get to a place where we all have a warm fuzzy feeling about stg that happened on the bus. And maybe keep it going. I dont know what theyre doing with their turn-taking.

Turn-taking means no one has to listen to anyone else.

You not liking them is a whole other matter. I was just saying they might be asking you to coffee because they actually like and want to get to know you because you said you thought the invitation was because they felt sorry for you. If you don't like them - then no reason to bother with it.
