Cookies. They seem to be especially popular with Mormon folk.

My Mom saga has been a roller coaster today. Once they got the CT scan results with much clearer pictures, they decided what they were seeing was not a hip fracture, but rather, bone spurs and arthritis. So, the surgery is off for now which is good. They are still going to do the chemical stress test to check out her heart tomorrow morning. The left side of her heart is enlarged, so they need to see what is really going on. They also want to figure out why she's had no appetite and has been so tired. Maybe we'll get more answers tomorrow.

We're all pretty stressed about her, but at least no surgery in the immediate future.

I need a good cry.

The time has come to find my friend's cat's kittens new homes (altho they can't go yet b/c they are only 6 weeks old, but time to start looking).

Yesterday just by sheer chance I mentioned the kittens to the peeps that work at my chiropractor's office & one person's veterinarian was looking for an orange male tabby kitten. I was like, "Ding! We have one of those!" I then got in touch with the vet's wife and just need to send her some photos of the little guy, then it sounds like a done deal. Yay, so happy! They all need to go home with veterinarians!

My mom is mean as fcck and I spend their visits trying to protect my kids while shrinking into a very small almost non-existent version of myself. I used to just dissociate trough time with them but I can't do that and parent my kids.

My mother probably has an untreated personality disorder, and is an alcoholic like my dad.

And it really highlights the meaning of disorganized attachment because I get so spinny and worked up.

And I've been working hard on all these core issues in therapy so now I'm feeeeeling more and understanding more, yet I feel unable to set more strict boundaries with my mother.

Similar to my husbands idea - we could plan a vacation for when they are coming. My husband won't even let them stay with us because he's so sure he will kick them out for being mean to me.

Could you at least plan to be gone part of the time they are there? Like a chunk out of the middle of their visit? Or send the kids to camp?

Maybe it's good you are working on the hard stuff in t now-I vote that you be done working thru the stuff and are able to be a boundary ninja when they come.

My t helped me learn to be a boundary ninja when it comes to my family of origin. It took them a little time but they finally came to accept my biggest boundary - that when I come back there to visit, I am staying in a hotel and renting a car end of story. Well, they have pretty much learned to accept it anyway. I still get half-hearted arguments here and there.

Beautiful view, lucozader! I hope the trip is enjoyable and not panic inducing.

I have a long commute for work, and the weather is calling for thunderstorms and tornadoes. Here's to hoping I don't have flashbacks!

Irate VIP: "I want a printer NOW! It's been a few days. RIGHT NOW! Or I'll escalate to CEO!"

VIP was going down the phone list and pissed that senior management was all away.

Ugh older males being irritated/frustrated/angry tends to make me scared and jumpy. :/
