This happened to me once in a session where we both screwed up schedule-wise and he offered me his lunch break.

Except it was neverending fistfuls of cashews. I would have been annoyed except I felt bad for him and I was so glad he'd been able to squeeze me in. It was also kind of endearing, "what I'm hearing is that... mmmfff... sorry.... mmmf.... the cashews...."

I've also been there, where one student's lesson is coincidentally the only time I can inhale a sandwich. I make an effort not to sandwich-lesson the same student twice though.

Nooooo! Love is the gas that makes life go! Dont subtract love from your life! Add as much of it as you can! Really cram it in there! All you need is love! How many times does John Lennon have to die?

I remember that one time, awhile back, when I actually understood what you said.
I don't know if you were clearer than I find you 99.9% of the time or if I was stoned at the time.
Really really stoned.

Just lost my cool in work a little bit because both 5 month old babies were inconsolably crying for 15 minutes straight and when there is only one adult vs 2 babies in that state of distress-it's really hard to figure out what to do. So I looked dead into the security camera and yelled that it's nearly f u c k i n g impossible to do this when both babies are screaming this way. If they were watching they saw it..if not..they will see it when they go back and watch later. It's better now. Both are asleep. I never got that frustrated before.

An uni the lecturer asked if anyone hadn't heard of Bob Dylan and somebody put their hand up. I was flabbergasted.

I can't imagine why your lecturer would have asked such a thing, but... yeah that's pretty flabbergasting stuff!

Existential psychotherapy lecture ----> Like a Rolling Stone ------> Bob Dylan.

But this particular lecturer would tie a music reference into any lecture. He continually quotes song lyrics in his lectures.

For a while, I titled my papers for my college English classes using song titles or lyrics, like "Rebel, Rebel: [something I've long since forgotten about Prince Hal in Henry Iv Part I]."

Oh, that's great! I think I might do something similar with the essay I have to do this week. We are encouraged to be "creative" with it, as it's mostly personal reflection.

I had to stop using pdq bach references. The students just stared at me blankly - I think maybe 2 students in 16 years ever got it. Sort of like when I made references to Sartre's No Exit

I disagree with him on a few boundary issues. I have argued with him a little because he sometimes seems to be saying "it is wrong to do x" rather than "I don't do x in my practice".
He thinks any self-disclosure is wrong, (this came up because I told one of my clients where I was going on holiday when they asked - he said I should have asked why they wanted to know!!)
And he also thinks out of session contact is unethical, which is a nonsense.

Hey, some therapists don't get references to Hamlet.

I should probably let that go.
