I'm done with Info's book loan. As in, couldn't get through the first three chapters.

First there was the presentation of the old European Great Goddess stuff as proven historical fact, which it most emphatically isn't, and now she's really twisting some of the myths and folktales she's using to make her point.

For a while I told the intellectual part of me to shut up and kept on going, but it's also badly written.

Fail.

I don't know, I can't say that I'm surprised. Something about Info tells me that she's just a little bit too out there. Probably the latex gloves.
Thanks for this!

Was she? You'll have to forgive me. I'm operating on maybe 3 hours of sleep. H shaved his head this morning and I didn't notice until like, an hour ago.

Una's doing una-humor.

If any drawers were involved, it's because Info offers free prostate exams to male clients.

I apparently got a bad install of windows 10 on my laptop when I did it (the first time). It killed my laptop, it wouldn't start up at all. Had to take it in to be repaired. That's been awhile ago now and it's been wonderful ever since - they did some other upgrades for me as well including a new hard drive so hopefully this will last me another good chunk of time. I bought this laptop I think in early 2013. The only thing that's wrong with it now is the battery doesn't work anymore so it's not so functional as a laptop anymore - I use it only on my desk. I suppose it's still at least portable, but I have to have a place to plug it in.

No the wood nymph picture just made her quirky and probably cool enough to have a beer with for me.

I don't know what this says about me.

trying to motivate myself into loading the dishwasher, finishing the laundry, starting to pack for my trip in a few days, and figuring out what to cook that will leave leftovers for the next couple days.

so far I am failing in said motivating.

I'm really mired in gloom today.

I want to be divorced now. I should be divorced now, except future ex has to torture me by literally waiting till a day before his deadline for a divorce by default (after the process had already been going on for eight months) and then hiring a lawyer so we have to start all over again. And now he is apparently playing hard to contact for his own lawyer, so things are dragging on even more slowly.

Words in English to describe the utter awfulness, pettiness, and basic inhumanity of this man have not been invented yet. Torture is his thing.

This is likely a super dumb question but unless you're looking to get into some protracted negotiations over splitting assets, my understanding was that most divorces are quick and simple (incompatibility is all you need to say)?

Sorry if this is entirely missing the point.

It isn't the cause that is the problem. It should only take 4 months or so, according to my lawyer...once they have a settlement in place. Not communicating with his lawyer is delaying any such settlement.

And, since he hasn't been able to hold a job in his field (medicine) for several years, guess who he'll be looking to for some ready cash? As well as the general enjoyment of making my life harder than he already has. My lawyer thinks I will end up paying him nothing (and I don't want anything from him), but that still has to be hammered out.

At least I learned the first time around and refused to merge any assets this time around.

I will admit I'm a complete d-bag who has two sets of principles for these things -- if I see the display on a GM, Ford or Chevy, I am as respectful of them as I am of other drivers. If I see it on a furrin car, I am a total arsehole and after ascertaining who is driving (it's usually super young looking people) I refuse to let them pass and do other d-bag-y things.

Well, all those cars have plants in the United states and hire us workers - and often those plants are in the south.
And as a southerner - I think it is more complicated that it can appear.

Also - latex gloves - there are some ointments or other issues that might not be visable but would be something where gloves are advised or at are useful.
I am amazed at what others notice about the therapist. I doubt I would notice a stack of latex glove boxes if they were on the table that goes between the woman and the couch for clients. I don't recall what is on the table at all except for a little clock and if it is missing or in a position I cannot see - I just take off my watch and put it on my knee. I really could not describe anything in the woman's office.

I think I notice these things because I am busy trying not to notice the therapist.

Three boxes of latex gloves is a lot of ointment-related activity.

When my fiance dumped me I dumped everything we shared on him. I even gave back spoons I'd borrowed. Well, left them on his floor. He was pissed that I was spoon-level petty, I remember that.

We had also just started a business together... all the newly ordered business cards went on the floor with the spoons too.
