Hi, couch! I found my phone The Couch 150: Ceci n'est pas un couch
I left it in the room where we store all of the student permanent records, which is the most secure room in the building.

First day of school (for students) is tomorrow. I feel woefully unprepared, but so does every other teacher in the building, so at least I have company.

Hello Couch. It has been a while since I've visited. I hope everyone is doing well. Just dropped by to say RIP Glen Campbell. I'll post this tune in remembrance oh him. I remember watching his TV show as a kid. This song brings back good memories.

Check out the audience in this clip. Chet Atkins, Waylon and Willie, Roy Clark, Crystal Gayle, Ray Stevens.

If your symptoms are below the neck, don't swim. If they're above the neck, it's OK.

Eta: general rule for exercise, not just swimming.

The more I hear about Info, the more I want her as a therapist. Great movie. But it's a very Pixar movie and wants you to cry.
Thanks for this!

Ooh, I just made a connection! Info = peeking out from behind tree (= wood nymph) >> what looks like a pile of fox pelts in a corner of her office.

Art, I wanted to reply to what you said in Dear T about the income. There's a sports analogy that kind of relates. People can predict winners and losers based on statistics. But if predictions were accurate, then why play?
Thanks for this!

Today I just want to lie down and sleep forever. Spending all morning driving my ex around to doctrs and chemists doesn't help.

ETA I must ring the mechanic and see when my car can be done, but I really can't be bothered.

I could not abide that movie at all - I made it about the first 5 minutes - then just fast forwarded to the parts with Lewis Black.

I couldn't stand Inside Out; never made it through the whole thing.

The best animated movie I have seen recently was Angry Birds. I thought it was quite entertaining.

Okay, whine alert. CW and I made this deal under which she agreed to do something (don't ask) if I tried a DBT group for a month. Earlier tonight I went to the second meeting.

I have just never felt so infantilized in my life. By the whole set-up, theory, methodology. And you know all the stereotypes about the sternness of Catholic nuns in the classroom? This therapist (not a nun) is closer to that stereotype than any nun who ever taught me.

I mean, Navajo freaking horde of rabbits.

I have always thought the XBT stuff treated clients like they were slack jawed idiots or infants. Good luck making it the whole month.

I recognise the Hamiltonian.

And since you are dividing the kinetic energy by k T, I assume you are doing some kind of thermodynamics.

I feel that ln Z should have something to do with entropy.

Not bad :-) It's statistical physics, Z is the amount of microstates in a canonical ensemble in case of (countable) "infinite energies"

Agreed. And it maddens me that (at least in the UK) it is lauded by the health services, simply because it is generally shorter term and the shorter term outcomes are easier to measure (whether or not they have a lasting effect). Therefore it is used as a cheap substitute for psychodynamic/humanistic options.
