I made madelines for the first time today. I am not much of a baker -but they are tasty. Pound cake is easier and I will probably stick to that -but the idea of poundcake in cookie form was too much to pass up.

I have been looking into cyber security...I'm thinking web development cert at CC (Community College) to start some of the classes overlap and web development is more flexible to get into. Then use web dev job to be able to take out less(student loans) for cyber security degree. Take the rest that I can at CC for cyber security transfer.

Stopdog...that is what I am really hoping for.

I think it is quite possible. I have students who have come back after doing other things - they are quite often very good. Sometimes being a bit older helps with knee-jerk reactiveness and hysteria that students can be susceptible to getting caught up around various things like grades, classes, etc.

I'll be rooting for you, DD! It took me forever to finally stick with college, largely due to my mental health, but I'm very glad I did. It made me feel like I was capable of accomplishing things for once in my life.

I'm rooting for you too DD! I recently decided to go back to school myself, registered for a college class that starts soon (8/23). I've been wanting to do this for like 5 years and finally am at 55. Only taking one class at first to see how it goes since I'm working full time.

In more fun news than anything else that's happened for me this weekend, I just ordered new glasses. I was able to get 2 since the website I use is doing a BOGO right now. I'm one of those people who like wearing glasses as a fashion statement. That and I'm blind as a bat 🦇

Looks like I'll be joining the blind as a bat club soon. My eyes got 250 points worse in three years when I had them checked last year. A year later I know they've gotten worse again but I can't afford new glasses so don't much see the point in finding out how much worse at the moment.

... I only got them checked last year because I failed the vision test at my license renewal with my glasses on :-/

Another one heading back to college this fall.. I think my age and maturity will aid me in being more successful than I was in my early 20s and in general have a better work ethic about it!

L told me I should write out a timeline of what happened after the fire, three times, to reprocess the traumatic memory. I figured now would be a good time now that I'm out of my apartment and through the hard part of the month

Guess what, I tried just now and it's not a good time. Four pages later and I'm only three hours into a seven-week period of time. My chest hurts and I'm sweating.
But I want to cut it out of me. I don't want it hanging over my head as a big foggy thing that I'm terrified of anymore.

And I am using my faculty privileges to take a psychology course at my university. Psych 101, unfortunately, because I have never taken a psychology course before and it is a prerequisite for the more interesting ones.

Oh, and what is bound to be a very depressing course on the Holocaust in film.

We totally need to form a Couch study group. Brownies, cheetos, Mountain Dew...all the staples.

Anais...you're doing great. Maybe since you are sans-therapists now is not the time to work on a timeline? I tried doing one of my SA with 3, and, no, not a good idea.

But you're almost in Belgium, which it sounds like you'll enjoy, Brahms notwithstanding.

I think it's perfectly okay--and for some of us, necessary--to get worked up over what is happening in the world--whether it's rot in one's own family or a nation. Good lord, why would it bother anyone if someone they don't know is getting worked up?
Thanks for this!

It's going to be okay.

(I keep trying to get my therapist to say this, but she keeps saying It will get better, and I don't want to be difficult about it...but it feels different to me to hear that everything is okay or that it will be okay.)
