If I tried to wield a knife in my left hand, I would probably end up accidentally severing an artery or something. My left hand is not a skilled worker.

I tend to agree with the food stereotyping and our wasteful ways. It makes me cringe, but I can't say that I see much respect shown to our food (through its consumption and our dining conventions).

I don't think respect is shown in how we raise/treat animals or crops or the ocean.

Not much of a joke — just a play on practically.

I share your opinion of Ayn Rand's work.

Some day I aspire to be like President Garfield, who could write Latin with one hand and Greek with the other (eta: at the same time).

Ah, yes. I can relate, as I myself aspire to be more like Garfield the cat.

Hello couch peeps. I can see I missed a lot yesterday. Wow. Just wow. It makes me sad to see the couch regulars being torn apart because of a difference in opinions. I hope those who felt they needed a break return when they are ready.

BCM, as an American, I personally don’t feel need to thank our vets. But lots of people do-for whatever reason.

Ruh, Roh..you were right. 2 weeks off Effexor, and I turned a corner with the withdrawal symptoms. Did I see something about you watching a series/ documentary or something? About how what goes into our body plays a part on our mental health or something like that? Can you please tell me the name of it? I would love to watch.

Hello everyone. Hugs, hand shakes, and head nods(for those who prefer to not be touched)
Hugs from:
LonesomeTonight

I just realized, with the top I have on, if I'd put on a different bra this morning, I could show Info some cleavage this afternoon.

For all sad words of tongue and pen, the saddest are these, it might have been. (Whittier)

I just asked my T the other day what would happen if I showed up for an appointment dressed in a therapisty outfit similar to hers, complete with a flowy scarf and stylish boots.

There was much mutual screaming.

We could all mess with our therapists' heads by showing up one day dressed like them.

"Well, you told me I needed better role models..."

Would anyone consider wearing a set of Blondie type scratchy leggings to therapy and then...I dunno.....scratching away in therapy?

I’d like a proper therapeutic response to scratchy leggings.
Thanks for this!

I didn't get observed, and now I am finally to the point that I don't care anymore about it. It's now a non-issue.

I did that once, went in dressed head to toe in black. She asked as we walked back to her office "are you making fun of me?" I replied "maybe." Clearly I was, but all in fun.

That was a long time ago, during year 1. Ah, memories...

I'm so glad you've turned a corner with the effexor. I think one of the worst parts of coming off it is feeling that it will never end.

Yes--I was watching Broken Brain, put together by Dr. Mark Hyman. At the time I watched, it was free. It was a pre-release viewing, so I was only allowed 24 hours to watch each episode. Now it has to be purchased. It was an awesome series though. Eye opening. I am sure you can get much of the same information if you google Mark Hyman, but will just have to piece it together without the experts interviews.

The whole series was about how depression, anxiety, ADHD, dementia, bipolar and other conditions that are considered brain diseases actually originate from the gut--by what we ingest (food, medication, environmental impacts), that the gut sends many more signals to the brain than the other way around. The biggest problem comes from food and substances that cause inflammation. Other factors play a role too, like the importance of social interaction to decrease dementia risks (I totally believe this).
Thanks for this!

Thank you. I am off tomorrow so I may spend some time looking it up. I have heard before that what ingest does play a key role in our physical and mental health, but only know very basic things. I think I will look it tomorrow and I may just purchase the episodes if I find what I’m reading interesting.
Thanks for this!

I get such a kick out of Blondie stories. It is so bemusing to picture a T scratching away at itchy tights while treating clients.

You’re right—she might show up wearing Freud pasties.

She was on the ball AGAIN. Five weeks in a row. Maybe she is sane in even-numbered years?

Also she gave me some fashion advice.

I admit I understand that. As a kid I had an anaphylactic reaction to penicillin, so now if I have to take a new antibiotic, I have to fight off the desire to take it in the doctor's waiting room and count down fifteen minutes. Hehe- this is why T is needed! I can see why H would want a full staff there if his temp did spike again.

You do tell them you have a penicillin allergy, right? Since some other antibiotics are in same family. I react to sulfa antibiotics (not anaphylactic, thankfully, just rash/joint pain).

A lot of people have had the water turned off at least in part, so... yeah.

I was talking about this show and my 600 lb life with t today. There are so many things i hear the people say that ive said myself to t. Like, i dont need to throw anything out, i just need to organize it. And, i need to do it by myself, leave me alone!

Its like watching an hour of family therapy. Well, two different families per hour, each with a clinical psychologist, and a professional dehoarder who is also very psychological.

I read an interesting book about hoarding called Stuff: Compulsive Hoarding and the Meaning of Things. It had vignettes about how different people's hoarding manifested, and if I recall correctly, I think it tried to get into the psychology behind why different people start hoarding.
