So even tho i missed most of the show yesterday, the same person is going to be on dr phil today, so woo-hoo! I have barely gotten out of bed today, just to eat some breakfast, then back in. I had a very long week, 4 days, 2 dr appts, 2 t appts. Plus i cant believe i scheduled all these dr appts for myself in the middle of this huge flu outbreak. Next week will be easier, 1 t, 1 dexascan, 1 dental cleaning and checkup, tues, wed, thurs. And the following week will be even easier, 1 t, and 1 mammogram. Looking at it that way helps me not feel overwhelmed. Not even counting chiro! He just piggybacks onto t anyway. Now THAT id like to see!

Mmmm one of the recipes t sent is for pimento cheese hummus. Never tried that flavor but I love hummus so I'm going to try it. That, and the veggie-packed chili one.

I read an article a while back that gave examples of therapeutic conversational styles that showed it working and then those that showed it was not working. I wish I could find it again.

Homework time! Just finished responding to two of my classmate's discussion posts. Now I need to finish writing mine. I've got my intro done, now I just need to watch a video and comment on something from it, and then I need to find a research article that talks about one of the intro questions we have to answer and comment on that. And start reading Chapter 1 of the textbook. This stuff is due Tuesday, so I'll finish probably tomorrow morning early while the house is quiet.

If I can find it - I will post a link to it.
I am feeling more like an oddball than usual and it would be interesting to a poll to see which of the styles people relate to. It was not that long - it was just examples of how the client spoke.

I just made a couple girl scouts really happy! At the grocery store where they're selling cookies, I asked the two girls what their favorite is, they pointed to the same one, so I bought it, then handed the box back to them and said "this is for you both!"

Punishment does long term damage. It teaches us to believe that when bad things happen, we deserve it.
For some patients, an important part of therapy is to tell us that we are not being punished, that bad luck carries no moral stigma.

Just talked to my Mom. She shared a really wonderful story that had tears streaming down my face. Good tears. I want to share it.
So, a little background first. My Dad, for the last several years of his life, collected Eagle-back quarters. (You know, the old ones before they started making the State quarters.) Everywhere he went if someone he was with got change, he always wanted to look at the quarters in case any were Eagle-back and he'd buy them from people all the time. So anyway. The week my h was in the hospital and I was calling my Mom every day, well on Friday when we got that last scare about the ESBL E Coli that they determined started the whole thing, when I was so upset because I had just reached my limit, anyways after that phone call she had picked up my sister at work and they went to Taco Bell for lunch, the one down by my sister's old house where my Dad had always gone every single time he'd been at my sister's house lol, it was his favorite one, and when they came out, my Mom opened her van door to leave and laying on the floor was an Eagle-back quarter, Eagle side up!!! She said a huge weight just lifted off of her and she knew that my h was going to be okay, that it was a sign from my Dad telling her that he was going to be okay. She said that's the 2nd time he's left her an Eagle-back quarter as a sign that something was going to be ok. The first time - she was all set to go on a trip with my cousin's Mom to Nova Scotia, and when she realized that they'd be gone over her and my Dad's anniversary, she was like I can't do it, I can't. (It was only a year since my Dad had passed I think.) And she said when she got down her suitcase to try to pack, she opened it, and laying there plain as day in the middle of the empty suitcase was an Eagle-back quarter - my Dad telling her "Yes, you can do it!" And so she went and had a wonderful time. I had not heard that story before. |

Wow. Just, wow. I was just cleaning off the table in front of the couch (where I always sit watching tv) and I kid you all not - hand to God - underneath the papers in the VERY CENTER of the table -
an Eagle-back quarter with the eagle facing up. |
