I did a positive psychology course. Positive psychology is flawed doesnt stand up to rigorous testing and the things they were measuring werent quantifiable. It would not for mental illness maybe for people who were a little dissatisfiedwith their life.

It's neither bad nor unusual to project all your pain and fear onto the therapist. I don't think your T is handling it well though. T accuses you of accusing him, maybe even blames you for blaming him. A standard strategy but unhelpful.

Wouldn't it be better for T to say, "I hear your pain. Tell me how I hurt you. I see your fear. Tell me what you're afraid of. I smell your anger. Tell me what you want to do to me."

Aaaaaaaaaah my mother is texting me saying she wants us to work on our relationship (I've been keeping in minimal contact with my parents for a while now b/c the shrinx suggested Setting Boundaries) and I don't know what the *bleep* to say to her--I really just want to give up "working on our relationship" because I will never be able to fill the hole in her heart and I'm sick of trying, but I also don't have the energy to get into a big blowout fight with her--and I'm not seeing t 'till Tuesday and I dunno what to do aaaaaaahhhhhh

Do you have to work on your relationship before Tuesday? Can’t you tell her you’re on call this weekend, you’ll let her know when you’re more available?

Or, since this is likely a response to your Setting Boundaries, an attempt to pull you back into the fold, ignore her?

chihiro, if the minimal contact boundary-setting is working ok, can you just carry on?

One of my favorite things about texting is that one can set aside the phone for whatever reason (tired, busy, got distracted, made phone calls, saw a cute dog, grabbed a coffee) and return to the conversation—or not—on a different topic, even, when there’s time and energy.

Pull a T trick and ask her how she would like to do that. That way you are not committing nor ignoring her. And then tell her you will think about it. That might get you through until your next T appointment.

Your response made me cry.

I think it's linked to me telling my mother last week that I wasn't well and asking if I could I come "home" for a few days? The answer was a no. I'd lose time travelling. I don't consider the house a home, but I wanted to be looked after because I'm lower than normal, but I know that I wouldn't really be given any real comfort.

I wanted him to tell me that he cared about me and that I really did matter to him. I wasn't just the 11.40 slot. That the ET was perfectly normal, I wasn't bad or dirty for thinking of him like that. That it was okay if I had changed my mind about taking the break. That we could fix "us"- we just needed more time.

I can see your point BC. Clearly think they were rude it was just a question. How do you feel about, were you close to them?

Is everyone invited to this?

I think we should start planing now though. What kind of time frame are we looking at? For some reason I can picture a wild Elvis wedding in Las Vegas. It's reasonably priced too!

Don't commit to anything now. Say things are kinda busy at the moment with work and you'll see closer to the time.
