She wanted me to start with my earliest memory, and at the end of the session, she concluded that we made it to age 17 and we’ll continue next time.
I came home from therapy and crashed a few hours, woke up, and a few hours later, I fell asleep on the couch. Today, I woke up late, did a few things, and took a nap! I just woke up again. I feel anxious. I guess it’s from intake for trauma therapy. It must be. Sigh. I’ve lost my whole weekend. I’m glad I didn’t try to do this during the work week. Have you had this reaction? |

((key tones))
Mine started during a massage rather than in therapy, memories and trauma processing. Afterward, my body felt so drained and achy that I felt like I had the flu. I stayed bed for two days. My t told me then (and since) that reaction is really normal.

I found my intake sessions with my latest t more exhausting than I remembered with previous t’s. He could tell it was hard on me so we stretched out our intake a few sessions. It helped to only have to spend 20 minutes of a few sessions doing intake. Maybe your t can slow it down into manageable pieces if you want to?

Oh, thank you SO MUCH for your replies WarmFuzzySocks and growlycat! I feel better knowing it’s not just me, and I would never think to ask to break it up into smaller sessions. That is such a good idea.
I’ll forgive myself for not getting to all my chores this weekend. I realize it can all wait. |

I used to have it a lot in attachment therapy which mostly dealt with childhood trauma.
