This morning, I was still thinking about peaches, so for breakfast I opened one of the last jars of the peaches I canned last August. It's like summer in a jar.

I saw that! How hilarious!

To combine the latest themes of the couch, i was thinking last night of the time my dad brought home a buckload of canned peaches, but they were "spiced", not "sliced". They were probably on sale. I wonder if they still make them. That would have been over 40 years ago.

I made two mistakes this week. Dreading the phone call that tells me I've made a third!

I think the repair I did yesterday will hold, but there's always a chance...

I told my therapist today that when my husband was still around, I used to have this fantasy that he'd take me home with him and let me sleep on his couch and pet his dog so I wouldn't have to go home and get yelled at. It was super embarrassing admitting that. I must have been a really bright shade of crimson because my face felt like it was on fire. He wasn't weirded out by it thankfully and said it made sense based on our work together. And that it was okay that I want to be comforted by him.

So Piaf was sporting cleavage today. More discreet than Info—because how could it not be?—but she had a pendant hanging into the Valley of the Dolls and my eye kept following it down.

Opening scene:

ATAT: So we’re 18 weeks into the year and you’ve taken two separate three week breaks. Can I expect your pattern to be six weeks on, three weeks off?
Piaf: Pretty much, yes.

She refused to confirm or deny that she was caving deep below the earth. “That would be something to do, wouldn’t it?” So I’m gonna persist in that fantasy.

It was kind of irritating otherwise, especially the way it ended. Might write more later.

ETA: she did impress me by knowing the term “fata morgana” comes from Morgan Le Fay.

I like spiced (or as we called them pickled) peaches.

That is an interesting schedule for a therapist -6 weeks on and 3 weeks off.

I would love to have that schedule: 6 weeks on and 3 weeks off. I just got back from a happy hour with people from work. It's very hot outside.

These are like the ones my mom made when I was little - I love them. We only got them on special occasions.

Had a most enlightening session with t this evening! Holy smokes. I don't know how in the world we got on the subject of my marriage but whatev. My issues with intimacy came to the forefront especially where h is concerned.

Anyway! The fun part. I told her about the dream where she and I were sitting together watching her on TV as part of jury, and I told her I'd started writing a story with that dream and in the story each of the jurors are different parts of me (including her) and that I got stuck when it came to what they are deliberating about. So she said let's write it now and got out her drum, and she drummed for awhile and together we 'wrote' the story out loud, at her suggestion the TV became a portal and I went through it and joined the jurors, and they were arguing but I didn't know what about, they looked to me for answers and I said I don't know, she suggested I get to know each of them and so I talked to each of them and they all insisted that yes I did know but I just wouldn't admit that I knew what the deliberations were about. And the juror in the dream that looked like T except her hair was straight and in a ponytail, she was taking notes. But I couldn't see the notes. We went back and forth talking the story and it was pretty cool. Not really a journey per se, just a creative little venture. Anyway after that we talked about the story a little and how I can work with it some more and I said aha each of them holds a piece to the puzzle as it were. Very interesting.

There was so much packed into this hour today I haven't scratched the surface here it seems like. Therapy is a lot more beneficial in a more immediate way now that I don't hem and haw and say "I don't know" for 40 minutes of the hour like I always used to do. We hit the ground running pretty much every session anymore. It's even better now that we have the whole 'romantic feelings' stuff out in the open finally.

Dang the hour goes by too fast.

Today I weeded and thinned my garden and picked lettuce. On the table tonight is the first homegrown salad of the year. Lettuce, spinach, baby kale, baby spinach, baby chard.

There's something so satisfying and grounding about working in my garden and seeing the (sometimes literal) fruits of my labors end up on the table.
