In a backwards sort of way -I turned the a/c on for my dog with the heavy coat and now I am outside on my back porch with the two cats while the dogs are inside in my bedroom -one on the bed and one on his dog bed. It is in the 90s here already which is not usual for May here.

I was actually on Wellbutrin for awhile and it was working perfect no issues and suddenly one day it stopped working I had panic attacks went into depression it was really really bad. I really really liked that medication and have no idea why my body stopped tolerating it all of a sudden.

Why is my computer on overtype, where it types over any text if I try to correct a spelling/punctuation error, etc. I googled it and it told me to press insert, and I did, to no avail. Clearly, technology has far surpassed me.

I went down for a three-hour nap and woke up to find I’m now officially tenured and promoted.

Am wondering if this justifies another three-hour nap instead of today’s assigned cleaning of the master bathroom.

Congratulations. And there should be no cleaning of bathrooms on such a day.

Woohoo!!!! That’s fantastic news!!

I suggest no labor of any sort be undertaken for the next year at the very least.

I made it to Texas yesterday although the dog did not enjoy the journey very much. He didn't get sick or anything; he just whined a lot.

So good to see Mom. We watched "A dog's purpose" last night so we've already cried in front of each other. Hopefully that's a good sign regarding difficult conversations to come.

Thanks everyone!

I decided to clean. Especially since I find it enjoyable now. I didn’t when 2ex was around. He put on metaphorical white gloves and ran a finger over everything. Not that he ever did any cleaning himself.

Maybe tricyclic antidepressants are an option.

Awk, how old are you? Or how much younger than SD are you? You dont have to answer. Its kinda like when in grade school, we watched John Glenn orbit the earth, but even though i was as smart as the smartest boy in class, i KNEW i couldnt be an astronaut because i was a girl.

So i am thinking, you grew up WITHOUT those kinds of limits?

Theres an old song, "How you gonna keep them, Down on the farm, Once they have seen Gay Paree?"

Does that help?
Thanks for this!

Umm...seriously, Una, just in case you forgot, I didn’t grow up in the US or in any Western liberal democracy or for that matter in any place where it still isn’t an actual crime to be gay (and people get thrown in jail, set on fire and have all sorts of other good stuff happen to them). And, my family isn’t too far off from thinking those are the right responses.

But, that doesn’t mean anyone I looked up to for coming out is someone I’d look up to for a whole lot of other stuff although I see that clearly others do (and gawd knows, I latched on to people because I was starved for someone — just about anyone — who was out and wasn’t whispered / heckled about or worse still, shown as if they’re about to kick the bucket from HIV; and, I spent a helluva long time looking since I knew something was different for me from around when I was 7 but basically had to keep my mouth absolutely zipped and plot and plan entirely in secret to get the heck out of the country as soon as I could [where I couldn’t tell even my partners because I knew they’d never get it / never come out and worse still, alert my parents in ways that would put a total stop to my getting the heck out] — I absolutely loathe playing the “I’m also a victim of such and such and so, I can say whatever crap I want” card but thought I’d thrown it in here [despite my better judgment]).

So I'm anxiously awaiting hearing back from the prof of the Psych Measurements & Statistics class to see if she'll waive the pre-req for me based on my previous degree. If she says no, I'm not going to quit, I'll just take the math class!

Here to me, they were connected and in a positive way. She was writing about a being a lesbian. Her advice was how she wrote her first two lesbian novels. I was working for a lesbian press at the time and living with my first lover. We did not know many other lesbians and there was no other openly lesbian professor at my university. My chosen instrument professor was a totally closeted gay man - being open was not yet done. It was dangerous and against the law to have homosexual relations at that time in the state we were in(it can still be dangerous even in the u.s.). She could have been denied tenure because of it (hell it was just 5 years after they quit having it in the dsm as a mental illness)- but she was writing about it. I would not look to her about which dog breed to get or any number of other areas, but in writing advice - I did. Writing about her connection of being openly gay in my post was for me - not for anyone else really. It was a warm memory for me.
It is okay with me that you do not get it - you don't have to get it. And like I said in an earlier post - it does not matter in a vacuum. But it very much was special to me and the attention she paid to me and how she was willing to be a mentor in writing and in being out of the closet. And it made me happy to remember it today. What you do with the information or don't do with it is up to you.
