Probably 2-3 times a year when I'm going to be out of town, with advance notice. I've only cancelled last minute once when I was sick.

I have had quite a few times over the years where there was a upcoming event for my kids (sports banquet, awards ceremony, concert. Etc that would conflict with my T appointment. T is always very accommodating in scheduling me on her other office day...even if she has to stay beyond her normal office hours.

There have been a few times where I I have contacted her saying that I needed a break and wanted to cancel for that evening. She always told me I could do that and she would understand and support me, or I keep my appointment and we would keep it light and that way we could check in. We could keep make it short .

Never canceled for any reason in 3.5 years together. I had to skip sessions here and there for travel but those aren't cancelations, we just don't schedule. I have a standing appointment and really like it that way.

I did not realize that the word cancel was going to be the focus - I was really looking to see how often people did not - for what ever reason - go to the therapist appointment. I see skipping appointments or not scheduling the same as cancelling if one has a regular sort of therapy appointment schedule. I did not mean cancel to be at the last moment or unplanned.

The pollster does not have an easy lot.

I tended to not have appointments more because I did not go than because the therapist was not going to be there.

I’ve cancelled a couple of times because my schedule changed at the last minute and I couldn’t make it.

Have also cancelled when I got really mad at her — a couple of those times I stayed away although she’d contact trying to get me to come back (that’s her usual practice although I didn’t say why I was cancelling).

And, a few other times, I went back when I felt like my anger had cooled down — she always had my slot open or offered another one the same day if she’d already booked another client.

Then I amend my statement to about 3 sessions a year. Two for traveling for pleasure, one for work travel.

Never if I can avoid it. But I've had to cancel for vacation before.

I am a no show for 3 out of 4 appointments. They are pretty randomly spaced. I should attend roughly 12-a year.

The first few years, ALL THE TIME. Now I still have the urge to cancel, but I tell her that I'm that place where I want to cancel but am resisting. I know that if I cancel, I'll feel worse, so I try to hold onto that and push through and go.

About 3-6 times a year, though it may be more soon since t wants me to get a social life and a lot of things meet when I see her.

I canceled on my previous T a couple of times for good reason - predictable parking problems due to conventions.

I have skipped one appointment (with my psychiatrist, not my therapist -- and I never went back, I saw a new one). I have never canceled in advance.
