But the crowning point was when she said something hurtful and insensitive about my hearing, the sort of thing I haven’t heard since grade school. Later she tried claim she meant something else, and maybe she did, but the damage was already done.

I don’t know yet, think there’s a better than even chance she and I are done. I can live with the sophistry but not the hearing comment.

After that hearing comment by Piaf, I feel like I’ve spent all my life as a problem and a pain for other people, just because of a genetic mutation I have no control over .

I asked Piaf why, if it’s so exhausting and hard and frustrating to be my therapist because of my hearing (part of what she said), she didn’t just suggest I find another therapist who was a better match?

She said I’d told her other therapists had suggested they weren’t the therapist for me and she didn’t want to do that.

I asked if that meant she felt like she had to keep seeing me.

She didn’t give a direct answer.

I dont really know what is wrong with me. My t is going away for a month i will miss 3 sessions and now all of a sudden i want to talk about important stuff like csa. I think i will spend all day today on the bed with the animals

I know I’m not—at least not intentionally, I expect at least some frustration from others over my hearing, they wouldn’t be human otherwise—but it doesn’t matter what I think. Do other people feel like she does, only they don’t say it aloud? Does that affect how they treat me?

There is a theory, for what it's worth, that the real business of therapy happens in the lapses and ruptures. ("In the breach and not in the observance", and I don't need to tell you what play that is from.) Working long term with a therapist can certainly teach us to forgive and persist!
