Just need to hang out a bit. Catching up on some posts here.
Some names I recognise. Some I don't.
I'm doing okay. I think. Well, a lot better than 12 months ago, that's for sure.

They definitely lied about the amount of snow that would come... they said a few small flakes here and there, now everything is drowning in snow and the only shoes I have here are sneakers... let's hope I don't fall over xD

First session of 2019 in two hours. I have a fair bit to say, and I'm not sure how that's going to happen.

Some of our exams are orals, where we get topics, space to answer and then we have to discuss them with the doc. We had two professors and I waited to go to the other one who was smiley when the first boy left. ( Like literally putting my hand up and walking down to him as soon as the other girl left.) As the other looked like he was just in a bad mood, so I didn't want to get stuck with him.

And he was lovely. One of my questions was on gastro examination methods. He made the the point of saying to always start with medical interviews and he stopped me half way when we were going through my answers together as he said he was satisfied and that I knew it already. (I know nothing, I'm just good at acting).

As I left there was the girl who stopped talking to me waiting in the corridor .I thought of ignoring her but just smiled, said hey and left.

And a guy from the year above I know and like asked if I wanted to go for coffee/a walk next week tuesday. xD
Way to go on the A! And the guy asking you for coffee/a walk!

And I highly doubt that you "knew nothing", you did and you do!! Hugs

Don't think I'll sleep much tonight. Disgusting confession: We have mice in our house, so I've been bleaching, scrubbing, sweeping, etc. Tried calling the landlord and he's blaming us and wants to backcharge us for the last 6 years we've lived here if he has to hire pest control. I feel absolutely disgusting and like people must assume we're dirty even though I know I keep the house clean.

I'm so so overwhelmed. I saw T tonight and see him on Friday morning. That seems like so long away but I know it's not.

Mice don't make you dirty or disgusting--they happen. They were likely just trying to find a nice warm place, and your house was there. They can fit into extremely tiny holes. I had them at a former apartment and was similarly horrified at first--I then learned how that complex often had issues with mice (and the fact that I'd avoided them the first few years I lived there was by chance)--it was right on the edge of a wooded area, so I imagine they came from there. We also had one (or two?) in our house a few year ago,but haven't had any since.

That's ridiculous about the landlord. And, as someone else mentioned, doesn't seem legal. So I'd try handling it yourself. I'd suggest just getting some snap traps (the cheap kind that are wood) yourself and baiting them with peanut butter (like behind couches, other hiding spots), see if that helps. (I learned from an ex who worked in pest control that's the most effective way.) They also have ones that hide the mouse, if you don't want to see it. Good luck, and please try not to beat yourself up over it.

How are you Circles?

It's been a few years since my kids have been in the licking me phase, so I guess I'm up for a licking. That didn't come out quite right Couch 186: Pink Lemonade

I'm lying on the couch with cat #1 sitting on top of me, waiting for cat #2 to finish eating so I can go get ready for work. The kitten (#2) has to eat by herself in the bathroom bc she's a huge bully to #1 and will eat all of her food.

We have traps and been setting them every winter that we lived here. We live in an old house in a mostly industrial town so I'm not surprised we have them. Still makes me feel disgusting esp with how bad they've been this winter. I usually stay up until around 1 or 2am cleaning every night and they're still out with a vengeance.

We once had mice that were coming up through a hole in the pantry left when an old hot water heater was removed (the hole wasn't obvious). But the real shocker was when the snakes started coming up through the same hole into the pantry. I guess they were coming after the mice. I opened the pantry one day and shrieked. I am not scared of snakes, but it took me by surprise. It was a black rat snake, just chilling in a bag hanging on some hooks on the back of the pantry door. I guided it into an empty garbage can and let it outside. Then there was another later that day. I tried to snatch it, but its tail slipped through my fingers. The snakes were pretty large - about 3-4 ft long. Luckily, all of the snakes that ended up in the pantry (I think there were three or four total before we found the entrance point) were harmless black rat snakes. They weren't at all aggressive. I actually freed a copperhead from some netting once and she wasn't aggressive, either.

I live in a old Victorian house. It was common for them to get in from the cellar. We don't have an issue since we got Belle, but she sometimes also brings them from outside as a gift.
I assume Belle is a cat. On that topic, I recently found just the head of a mouse in a client's backyard. They have three dogs and a cat. It was quite traumatizing since I have pet rats. I really love cats - and I'm quite fond of this client's cat. However, I love all animals, and for this reason, I don't think I can ever have a cat, which is a shame.

We've had a few mice, I see them outside and so I am not surprised they come in here at times. It's hard not to feel like you have done something wrong but you really truly havent.

I have had mice even with cats. I had to put stuff outside as well as inside. I have a cat now who knows how to hunt, but my older cat has never managed to kill anything that we know of. He came in as a tiny kitten found abandoned - he was never taught to hunt and so he does not.

On the topic of giving things to therapists, I haven't given her anything per se, but I did bring something for her dog. C and I had made a dog-safe Thanksgiving meal (turkey, sweet potato casserole, squash, etc.). She had said she wished she had time to do that for her dog. We had loads of leftovers, and our dog is only 6 lbs, so it would have taken him ages to eat it all. Packed a couple portions up and brought it to a session. She really seemed to appreciate it and her dog apparently loved it. She texted pictures of him.

Now she brings up that I did that as evidence that I am a good person all the time, which is annoying.

Went to the place where most of my trauma happened a few years back. It went reasonably well, thanks to the people who said yesterday they'd pocket ride, I appreciate it!

Does anyone else find that even the expected breaks create 'distance' between them and their T?

No. I found breaks very useful. But I never felt non-distant from or connected to a therapist no matter what.

For me I always have trouble connecting with my T after breaks, even if I expected those breaks for months.

Yep! I was in a good place with him right before Christmas and I've had trouble connecting since I got back. It isn't a coincidence. It happens after nearly every break.

Still asleep - ive been staying up late reading about the May 1996 Everest summit from other writers than Krakauer. Right now im on Lou Kasische, who gives a just short of insightful but very personal perspective of what happened. Thats right, im criticising him! JK, kinda. He thinks it's magik - it's not magic - it's taking responsibility, bub.

ETA - holy carp, SNAKES?!!!

Eta2 - shehulk - youve posted pics of your house, i remember because i noted how neat and clean it was!

Yes, definitely. Sometimes even the anticipation of the break causes distance before it happens.

If I had snakes in my house I'd probably just burn it down and move on. Nope, nope, nope. I haven't had to deal with mice (yet), but the house centipedes give me nightmares.
