Its hard for me to think about. While i was writing this, i saw my own t squirming around in his chair in a similar situation! Its like, WE want it to be free (like we were children?), but adult human interactions arent ever free, are they? Big Sigh!

She didn't have to wait long this morning. I put a little bit of crunchies in her soft food and she ate pretty good. I got a food scale so I can keep track of how much she is eating so when I take her back to the vet I can see if that is appropriate for the insulin dose. But for now, the vet just has to live with the fact that Esther wants a little dry food. I'd rather her eat than not. And this way she eats most of the wet food. Thanks for caring about my kitty cat. I wondered that, too! I said the word "emotionals" in session yesterday, then was like, "What did I just say?"

Yes, eating some crunchies is better than going hungry or else when she gets her insulin she will crash. Mine crashed once and it was horrible. If you are able/willing you might want to talk to your vet about home testing. Then you can regulate it just like they do with humans. I know not everyone is able to and not every vet supports it but it can be helpful and, in the long run cheaper than doing a ton of curves at the vets office.

Thank You @Omers We do have urine strips to check her urine for glucose but nothing as precise as you see with humans. But I can tell the insulin is working because she's not drinking so much water. And the times we have checked her urine the glucose has been good. The dry food helps the wet food stick to it, and then she is able to eat both at the same time. But my goodness, she is the world's slowest eating cat. This morning breakfast lasted 42 minutes! Amelia ended up taking a nap on the bench next to Esther, waiting for Esther to eat. Amelia's breakfast took less than 3 minutes in comparison.

I second the idea!

I am waiting for the day I start talking in PC/couch to T. Then I can just hand him the dictionary!

I have one plan for session, and then it all goes sideways. I think we have two more before the week's break, which coincides helpfully with a trigger date.

I am hoping I will be able to formulate a plan and stick to it for next week.

My dog was diabetic. She died about 6 years ago (not from diabetes) so hopefully procedures have improved since then, but the only way to check blood sugar at home was to get a blood sample from the pads on her feet or from inside her lip. I cannot imagine that either of those would have been appreciated by the dog. She tolerated the twice-daily insulin injections with no issues thankfully. She sometimes got shot while she was asleep even. I miss that little dog.

@NP_Complete I'm sorry about your dog. My vet said that diabetes is worse on dogs than it is on cats, but how awful having to get your blood sample from the pads of her feet or her lip. HUGS Kit

OK, I hope T doesn’t shoot me. I know he has a short, busy week and a lot going on and I have TOTALLY blown up his email. He has reassured me before that he wants me to feel like I can reach out to him and he has said he really likes it when he knows clients continue the work outside the session... I am not sure he meant 5 emails in 24hrs though one was just a few words correcting a typo in an earlier one but still... poor T.
Yesterday’s session was SO huge though and ever since I am seeing all kinds of stuff that validates what he is trying to bring to light. I’m not sure that he noticed how much my universe shifted yesterday.

On a side note... had to take anxiety meds today and allergy meds so I am feeling like a zombie and got called into work from 4:30-9:30... oh let’s hope I can stay awake! But at least there will be a minimum of 5hrs between emails to T because I can’t have my phone at work.

NP - have you thought about whether getting another dog might help you right now?

My therapist would love it if I got another dog. He told me once that he was having a rough night and was cuddling with his dog and it made him think of me and that he wished I had a dog to cuddle with when I'm crying. When the dog in that photo died, it was in a highly upsetting way that took me a while to get over. I don't want to go through that again. I also don't want to be responsible for another living creature at this point. I barely manage to get normal responsibilities completed right now. And if I were to die, what would happen to it? I know I'm making excuses, but it's where I am at this point.
