The land of no wi-fi? Not even the ability to tether from a phone? This is why I don't get all worked up about nature. It is barbaric

@stopdog I’m sorry, you got me laughing SO hard. It is amaizing to me the diversity of humanity. I would kill right now to be at my mountain stream where there is no power, no phones (the town still has pay phones because cell service is so unreliable) no cell phones, no WiFi.... and yet, for others it might well kill them to be stranded there.

Oh. I, um, hate open floor plans. I also like carpet. I don't know why I watch HGTV. Maybe I just like to yell at the TV? I keep thinking about moving to a bigger house with a better elementary school nearby, but my spouse seems so keen on staying and paying off this perfectly nice smaller house.

ETA: I'd be into an island, though, if the kitchen had a good layout and was big enough to warrant it.

I don’t like open layouts but it is because I have pets that need to be kept apart... if it were just me and H it would be OK.

HMMM.... seems the guy down the road lost his license again... using the lawn mower to go to the liquor store on the corner... in the pouring down, cold rain...

No. I haven’t had a TV in 10 years or been to a theater since titanic. That goes back to that mountain thing

My professional development teaching course instructs me “to provide accurate information” in class.

Okay then. I’ll stop making stuff up.

Well an old guy rides a lawnmower in it across like 3 states to visit his brother. Speaking of mountain things!

I hate this time of year so much.

Have you thought about trying something like EMDR? It seems like your trauma triggers would make it so hard to progress in therapy, not to mention live your life. I wish you didn't suffer so much.

I’ve been using up all the foods with gluten I have on hand. I’m down to a couple frozen dinners (curry apparently can have gluten in it), a box of granola bars, and a couple boxes of oatmeal.

I figure if after Monday’s appointment I have to keep eating gluten for a bit longer for tests, I’ll use it up then. Otherwise food drive/common kitchen at work.

I guess I didn't realize oatmeal had gluten in it. I thought gluten was only in wheat for some reason.

You can get gluten free oatmeal. I forgot how the do it but you can get gluten free oats. I think gluten is in the outer part of the oat so if they take that off... dunno... don’t remember but there is such a thing as gluten free oats. Wheat has the highest gluten content so that is where we think of it most but it is in other grains too.

Cross-contamination in brands like Quaker, and there’s some protein in oats that is very similar to gluten celiacs could also react to.

I think normal oats may just be grown or processed in the vicinity of wheat. So to ensure that the oats are gluten free and that particles of wheat havent mixed in with the oats, they have to grow and process the oats speshul. No inadvertent mixing! "No Wheats Allowed." Idk, sounds kinda racist to me

In Greece special is 3 syllables, pronounced spes-ee-AL. Like a croissant special (ham and cheese croissant).

We Grecians are weird.

That sounds good, im hungry. But i just read that a croissant is the most wasteful food that exists in terms of nutrients vs calories. Yumminess was not a factor. OBVS!!!!!!

There are yummy gluten free pretzels made by Snyder's. H went gluten free for awhile. It wasn't too hard. Lactose free was harder on him.

I am a fairly healthy eater but sometimes you just have to eat what you want that makes you feel good and enjoy it. No one gets out alive whether you eat croissants or wheatgrass.

I made this stew for lunch today, and it is delicious. It tastes a lot like beef stew but without the cost or environmental impact of buying beef. Few things make me happier than having good leftovers.
