So my gym that banned news channels is now using their TVs to show the Biggest Loser and the TLC type of shows like “I weigh 5 tons.” Shows I regard as nothing but exploitation and fat shaming. And in the case of the Biggest Loser, promoting unhealthy ways to lose weight.

I don't know if you'll regret it, but right now, I feel like texting the therapist, and I probably would regret that.

On the other hand, I can't really stand watching the news. They are so over-dramatic about everything, and it seems like making one group or another mad is always the aim. And the way they talk (the special newscaster voice) is completely ridiculous.

At least TLC shows don't masquerade as anything other than the trash they are.

I can't seem to get started today. I have showered, but I haven't gotten dressed, and it is almost 6pm here.

I tend to agree about the special newscaster voice especially a few of the local ones here!

It is officially school holidays here and I no longer have a reason to get out of bed or get dressed or do anything at all. I am looking old British 70s sitcoms to help my mood.

I have not watched the news in over 6 years the radio gives me the local news with some outstanding international news and twitter gives me some as well. My mood is better for not watching it.

I woke up this morning curled up in a corner because obviously every time I rolled over my Ds cat snuggled in. He has been in quite a mood the past couple of weeks. Just running around constantly and terrorising the other cat and he has completely destroyed my stereo in the bedroom by chewing up all the speaker wire.

Oh dear lord. The pumpkin spice flavor insanity has reached the gluten free market. I thought I left that madness behind me.

So you won’t find yourself on a scale being weighed in your sports bra and underg’s in front a TV audience of millions?

I guess that would be an incentive.

I used to watch The Biggest Loser in the early seasons, if for no other reason than I was in love with Jillian Michaels. Once she left the show I stopped watching. I had no idea it was still on! All these years later?

I forgot I had to get dressed to take the dog for a walk. It is cold and overcast and windy and brought back memories of my childhood.

I'm full of trigger posts today and I apologize in advance. I don't know where else to share this stuff on or with.
Possible trigger:

I really want to talk to my therapist right now but my son will be out of karate in a few minutes and I won't have privacy to talk.

Yeah, I prefer to read my news personally. Whenever I go back home and the mother turns on the news, she always gets all worked up from watching it. And it's even worse because sometimes she feels compelled to subject herself (and me) to one specific channel so she can see what the other side is saying or something like that. I usually leave the room so she can rant at the TV in peace.

But she does still get the local newspaper, which is a nice change from reading electronically.

Feel really relieved I didn't send a text I had been tempted to send earlier. The therapist just texted and said her mom has had a major stroke so she needs to cancel tomorrow's session. Her mom had a knee (or knees?) replacement a few months ago and hasn't been doing great. She must be in her eighties. My own grandmothers are in their mid-late 80s and the therapist is the same age as the mother and father. Anyway, "major stroke" sounds pretty bad. I can't really see this having a positive outcome. Even if her mom lives, I doubt she will ever be the same.

Sad for the therapist.

Anyways my session was really good. Not as deep as last week, probably cuz she's on vacation next week. but we talked about some good stuff. about my marriage, about son & gf staying with us and the dynamics with that, and about how this poetry class is SO good for me, etc.

is it July 11th yet? haha.
Eta: oh and I didn't cry nearly as much as I'd expected I would for some reason.

I’m kinda hit or miss on here lately depending on how demanding my son is being but you can always PM. I don’t trigger on the kind of stuff you post so no worries.

I'm still awake. Made the mistake of going to Walmart late at night with my kids and they now won't go to sleep. I need to work on this week's assignments at some point since week 2 started today. Thankfully it's only 2 assignments and 3 discussions this week. I still really want to talk to T but it's not urgent right now. I might call him tomorrow and see if we can talk for 30 minutes like we did last week.
