Ugh, I''m getting a cold (there's one going around my residency program; it was really only a matter of time). Holing up in bed with coffee and cough drops because I still have work to get done.

Also, emailed T twice yesterday and he hasn't responded. (We have an agreement that he won't respond to my emails but sometimes he does anyway.)

There is no help, minion. You must endure. Service to a cat is not entered into lightly

I had a long talk with my mom yesterday about therapy, life and stuff. She said again she wants to pay for my therapy for a time and she wants me to find a new t soon. I told her I'm really not wanting to jump back in right away... I'm happy at the moment using my writing as therapy. I don't want to accept her offer anyway because then I'd feel obliged to tell her about my sessions. (I didn't say that last part to her.)

eta I also told her I'm going to be changing to a more short-term, solution-focused therapy the next time around. I've no intention of entering an open-ended analysis type, relationship-with-the-t-centered therapy again. (Been there, done that, didn't even get a t-shirt. Ha!)

It’s a rainy chilly lazy day here. H wants to order out Chinese food for dinner but I don’t love Chinese good. I normally just end up getting a spring roll and broccoli with garlic sauce.

I ate chinese today - a lovely, chili filled chicken dish (seriously there are a couple of cups of those hot dried chilis in this dish - I don't eat them directly but it is hot). My lips are still tingling from the peppers.

No. I don't cook chinese well - too much chopping and I don't have the patience for that part of it. It is a small restaurant that was set up by a chinese prof. and her husband to help the foreign students with homesickness. It serves un-americanized food.

Japanese food too? Habichi is the very best if you can afford to go out on occasion. Living next to a Dairy Queen turned Chinese food restaurant was difficult for me. Luckily, the neighbors had a cat and our yard was just a bit above theirs. Neighbors are neighbors. Didn't matter though, and dinner was always a quick walk away. They did not get too much business in the first place. Self help now quick take out? A year and nine months I lived there with a partner and friend. Never had a problem, the food was always the same.

I love watching Hibachi chef videos on YouTube. As far as I know, they don't do things like that where I live.

H and I went out to breakfast and to home depot to buy a bag of mortar mix, we have to fix the cinder block wall in our backyard that was damaged parts of our used to be huge tree sheared off and fell on it. There are like 6 blocks that need to be replaced and we had everything but the mortar, cuz when he bought the stuff to fix it originally he accidentally bought a bag of cement instead of mortar. So now we are ready to get down to business and fix the thing.

I am too cheap to buy a Sunday NY Times just for the puzzle (besides my school provides a free digital subscription to the news part). So I buy my local paper at the dollar store for the puzzle, which is published two weeks after the original NY Times puzzle. This works great except when the local paper publishes a grid and a list of clues that doesn’t match the grid, like today.

I guess I will have to sit down with some grid paper and work it out for myself.

First World problems.

Because of the university - I can get the full Times online subscription -including the crossword puzzle for $10 a month. It is the education discount rate. I like doing the crossword on my ipad - easier to deal with corrections than all of my earlier pen/pencil stuff that made it so sometimes I could not tell what I had written

Glad to see the cat overlord released you.

$4/month at the dollar store still beats $10/month.

So...you gonna send me the grid from 10/6 or make me work hard?

The cat overlord was precariously balanced on my hip as I was lying on my side and eventually fell off of her own accord.

It is cheaper your way. But more convenient mine.
I would if I could figure out how to do it.
Cat overlord will exact vengeance at the appropriate time.

If I did the math calculations correctly, based on the information we were given of early Hominids coming into existence 3 Million years ago, if you put the 4.6 Billion years of earth's existence on a 12 inch ruler, early Hominids were here at 11.99 inches.

And early dinosaurs came at 11.34 inches.

And, the oldest rocks on earth formed at 1.57 inches.

Now you know.

I fired the life coach during the session last week when she couldn’t deliver a plan to help me move forward.

I’ll look for another one after the holiday season.

So she really was a therapist!

Yeah, I’ve heard that ruler/humans/dinosaurs/rocks thing several times. History textbooks love it.
