I wonder how egg pizza would taste. As in, putting pizza sauce and shredded cheese on a fried egg instead of on pizza crust. Hmmm.

Ever try carb balance tortillas for pizza crust? My family liked it when I made it for them.

I might actually try that. I have some carb balance tortillas and they're not bad at all. I still haven't recovered from my disappointment with this one brand of cauliflower pizza crust I tried. It was horrible.

Fried egg pizza does not sound good to me personally.

Kind of like shakshuka I would guess. Different herbs and cheese, but both tomato based sauces. If you've never tried shakshuka (I hope I'm spelling that right), it's delicious and you should try it.

Actually I don't like any flavored ice--water ice, sno cones, sno balls, paletas, and so on. It just feels like there's no there there.
If you dont like ice, and you cant have cream, whats the point of summer?

I'm not a huge fan of popsicles, but boy do I love a good snow cone. They aren't popular around here during the summer, which makes me a sad panda. I will settle for the Ben & Jerry's that was on sale at the store.

oh thank you!!! I have never heard of that, the first one he made in the video looks fabulous. I do believe I need this in my life.

eta: I just googled where I can get that here in my town, and found a couple-3 restaurants that serve it. Yay! I'm going to try making it this week, after tomorrow I'm off until next Sunday and I think i already have all the ingredients. I'll try to remember to report back with a pic after I make it.

I've never made it, but had it for brunch in a restaurant. It doesn't look that difficult to make though.

Got a bill from the imaging place, they are saying I owe them another $1272.58 for the CT scan I had in late April. I already paid them $515.42 which is what came back from my insurance when they submitted the claim. They're trying to bill me for the "plan discount" amount. I printed out the EOB from my insurance and I'm going to mail it to them with a letter. I hope I don't end up owing that. Yuck.

Trader Joe's has a good frozen shakshuka. I like it with chick peas and eggs and sometimes I put it over rice or pasta.

I haven't been to Trader Joe's in forever and there's one not too far from me. I think I may just have to go there this week. I keep adding things to my list to do on my 5 days off.

Obviously I don't know what insurance you have Artie, but before I meet deductibles, I always owe the plan discounted amount, not some other amount. Where did you get the $500 figure from?

Chick peas added to almost anything make it that much better. I usually just buy a Moroccan brand of the sauce to make shakshuka. Super easy.

Favorite homemade popsicles (and jello): coffee, earl grey tea, or coconut milk.

Sometimes you can dispute charges like that with letters. You can do some research, see what the national average for CT scans is, etc., and then include those figures in your letter to them.

I once had an MRI that I disputed like that. It worked. I did not have to pay the full amount because I pointed out that their service was charging at least 3x the national average (it could have been more; I cannot remember).

I'd contact your insurance company and let them deal with it. You shouldn't have to end up paying.

I think it depends. My EOBs will list the charged amount, the plan discounted amount, what the insurance company is paying, and what I owe. I think the "plan discounted amount" is the amount the plan allows a place to charge? I have Anthem, which recently redesigned their EOBs to make them even more confusing than they were before.

We had shakshuka for dinner last night inspired by this recipe. We use two whole cans of chickpeas and brown sugar instead of coconut sugar. I haven't tried a version with eggs yet, but I bet it would be great. I am up for anything with smoked paprika in it.

I wasn't aware there's shakshuka without eggs, might try that once.

I usually always add eggs, it's one of those dishes that you cook once or twice with a recipe and after you know what goes into it. It's a great food for during the week when you don't have that much time for cooking. I've also made a Swedish (I think) version of it once, with spinach instead of tomatoes.

I found that recipe originally when we had nothing but pantry staples and spices and I was not at all prepared to make dinner. We usually eat it with rice or cauliflower rice. It's a good way to use up the 10-lb bag of basmati rice that we bought on accident (thought it was jasmine rice, which is far more delicious IMHO).
Thanks for this!

We often do a dish with chickpeas with some curry powder and sometimes add potatoes or cauliflower, then serve with basmati rice and naan that we get at Costco and freeze (now I need to try jasmine rice!) I figured out a secret to making it better is to add butter (i suppose to be authentic I should get ghee) with the chickpeas/veggies. And putting some whole cumin seeds in the rice is good, too.
Thanks for this!

I'm on a MAOI. This is the 3rd one that I've tried. Each one makes me super sensitive to soy or soybean oil or soy lechen in foods. I get really bad headaches when I eat anything with soy in it.

Did I care this morning? Nope. I went right ahead and ate what I wanted to eat and thought "F it".

I'm now regretting that decision.
