I've been listening to Christmas music while I do it but it hasn't been a great motivator. Maybe I could try an audio book. Thanks for the suggestion, stopdog.

Not every profession is so prone to taking credit where none is theirs

Tomorrow we have our Christmas luncheon at work. I have my gifts for my coworkers stashed in my closet of my office. I am looking forward to the luncheon but also not. It means Christmas is coming too fast.

I have non-cancerous bone tumors that grow in my mouth and jaw. I've had some removed but it is an exercise in futility as they just grow back.

Today they are especially painful. I probably should see an oral surgeon again but I know it is pointless.

Was on a work Zoom call today and you could hear one person's family in the background. I suddenly realized this WFH business would never have worked if ex-H was still in the picture. He would have humiliated me at some point.

I just got off the call with my prescriber and I'm irrationally upset because she wants to put me a med that my ex took. It's just a pill but I don't want to associate with it. I feel stupid.

Finally got an app't with pdoc after trying for 6 days. It's not until Thursday morning but I also have therapy tomorrow afternoon so I think I'm good until then.

Hi couch,

Any of you on Vortioxetine (Trintellix, Brintellix)? Did it help? I think it's making me irritable but it could also be external stressors.

I bribed my young men with ice cream and tradition and started our annual reading of A Christmas Carol. Dickens is such a linguistic sensory joy to read aloud.

Plus reading Dickens makes me feel better about the length and convolution of my sentences when I am writing a paper.

You're not stupid, I'd feel the same way if I were you! Is there any way of taking a different med (for example same ingredients, different brand, not sure what that's called in English, or something that acts similarly)? It's pretty normal to try to avoid things you associate with somebody like your ex, and if there's the possibility to do so it's sometimes a good thing to just avoid it (therapists will say not always, but I don't think anyone would argue it's never a good option to avoid).
If there's no such opportunity and it's an important med, I'd personally try to first let myself feel whatever I feel and after that try to at least make the experience something that's different from the previous ones with the med. Say the ex took it at a certain time from a certain container, I'd maybe do a different time, different container, just make the situation as unique to myself as possible.

I ate one of my dehydrated oranges that I left the peel on - it is good and bitter. It is like when you eat hot spicy food and everything is burning but in a good way so that you want more

Yet another room of Dr. T's house today--couldn't tell what sort of room it was, but it had light blue walls (others had light yellow). I said, "Oh, a different room!" He said the other room was too cold today (it's snowing here--first of the season). He got up at one point and walked to the side and back to his seat--was hoping it was a pet coming in, but wasn't.

I imagine you may have some sort of fancy/pricy one, but what sort of food dehydrator do you have? I know you suggested it before, but now I'm starting to get more intrigued. And would be a way to use up some fruit and veggies that I keep forgetting to eat. Plus, guinea pigs can't eat frozen foods (something that happens to the cell walls), but they can eat dried, so could be a way of preserving some stuff/making treats for them as well.

ETA: And I know we have some Visa gift cards coming for Christmas.
