I just looked up this: Mullion vs muntin: A mullion is a heavy vertical or horizontal member between adjoining window units. Muntins are the narrow strips of wood that divide the individual panes of glass in a traditional sash.
Fake muntins for the win! Because these were very thin strips of wood put together like a many-sectioned tic tac toe game first, and then attached to a big pane of glass. I have learned 2 new words today. Thank you @@ and una! |

I knew those people were wrong when they listed why they thought people would refuse medical care.
I am stuck on Manana by Peggy Lee. There is a little clip with dean martin and the andrews sisters (I love the andrews sisters music) where they include it in their medley and now it is stuck in my head. I had not known until recently how the younger two didn't speak or get along even though I have listened to their music since I was tiny. My grandmother was also a fan.

This pretty much describes my feelings about it. I would be pissed if they just tried to attribute something to my anxiety without running actual tests. I tend to choose doctors (including pdocs) who will really listen to me and explore what's going on. |

On the poll - I was talking about a situation where (like a family member of mine recently) - hospitalized with a host of visible symptoms but after batteries of tests they have no idea what was wrong but he just got better - they did nothing to cause the getting better. That is what I meant by going but them finding nothing wrong

I read of that particular situation happening a lot with the covid. Also, in our state, we get a review of records count of covid deaths almost every day equal to the day's covid deaths. Sometimes they cant ascertain in a timely manner that its covid. Maybe it wasnt - maybe some other cootie got him. IME, they care more about alleviating symptoms than discerning specific, rather than general, cause.

I don't think he regrets the hospital.

I dont mind the hospital. So far in my life, i have not been too sick to enjoy the 3 meals a day brought to me, cooked, coffee, and pudding. Knock on wood.
I always thought there was something weird about the Andrews Sisters. T and i often sang "Maňana is just right for me!" |

This happened with my Dad when he had CANCER! They told him nothing was wrong for over a year. He was kind of mad because he knew something wasn't right. He was having trouble breathing but they just said it was sinuses. Finally he ended up at the ER, they did a chest xray. Oh **** your lung is collapsed and you have a tumor! Non Hodgkins Lymphoma.

One thing I have to say positive about the mental hospital I was in, the food was actually really good. There was just one meal I didn't care for. Even when I was in the ER waiting to be transferred, they brought me meals. They were pretty good. I was too sick with a migraine to eat the chicken pot pie though which kind of upset me because I like chicken pot pie.

So so sooooooooooo wanted to call into work today. I was already dressed and ready and I was like, crap. I don't want to go to work. I think it is worse because I took Monday off. So I had to really adult and talk myself into going to work today. Now that I'm here it's not that bad. It's been almost an hour. I already got my work done. So that means um, 7 hours to go!! Yikes!

Today I apologized for Dr. T for being too dark. Then I said, "Wait, why am I apologizing to you, you're my therapist?" He said being too dark for him was the last thing I needed to worry about. Me: "OK. I can get darker." Dr. T: "It's not a challenge!"
I also learned that he has a $3,500 mattress (I was shopping mattresses recently). And apparently sleeps on one of those adjustable beds, like the kind where you can raise and lower parts (not like a Sleep Number). What's funny is when I'd been talking mattress a previous session, I said I'd decided to go with a midprice one--"Well, midprice in the price range I'm looking at, not the ones that are like $4,000 or something ridiculous like that." And that he turned 50 last year during the pandemic (I knew this, but he didn't know that) and had to cancel something he'd been planning for several years for it. This came up because I turn 44 a week from Sunday and was lamenting being very limited in what I can do during the pandemic, and he was like, "At least it isn't a milestone birthday." |

We old people like our adjustable beds.
I don't think having one is that unusual. I have had mine for over 15 years. I have changed the mattress once.

So I happen to have found the twitter account of one of T's other clients, who sometimes posts stuff about him. They posted something recently about him being "mean" and I so want to ask... "What did you do to M?!" But of course he wouldn't answer if I did. I need to just stop looking at it.

Oh I don't think it's unusual at all. I mean, I wouldn't mind having one. It just tends to be funny to me when I say something to T like, "Oh, it's not like I'm getting x for that price," then he says later how theirs was that price. I think it also underlines how, while we're doing OK, he's clearly in a higher income bracket. And makes me feel less bad about paying a somewhat reduced rate. ETA: Though I suppose it doesn't necessarily say anything about his income so much as about his priorities. Like some people might prioritize having a nice mattress but then opt to spend less in other areas because good sleep is more important to them. Like I have a fairly expensive Macbook Pro (I can deduct a considerable portion of it from my taxes because I'm self-employed and use my computer for my work), while Dr. T has an older Microsoft Surface with a considerably smaller screen. But I like having a bigger screen and using Apple's operating system over Windows. Last edited by LonesomeTonight; Jan 22, 2021 at 01:11 PM. |

On a positive note, I just learned that one of my current favorite bands, Typhoon, released a new album over streaming today. Early birthday present for me! It's called "Sympathetic Magic," which is quite a lovely title.
