Congrats!!!!

My favourite movie teacher would be Mr Keating from the Dead poets Society.

Miss Brodie was a psychological fascist who looooved Mussolini and sent a pupil to die in the Spanish Civil War.

Yeah but Maggie Smith played her in the movie

Maggie Smith is a treasure. I have always liked her.
I think Jean Brodie was just misunderstood (old public defender instinct). I mean who hasn't been enamoured of a bad boy? And students get themselves into all sorts of trouble with or without the help of a girl's boarding school teacher. No, Jean Brodie is not to blame. It is society who must bear the burden...

My parents are getting their first dose of the vaccine tomorrow! (They're in their early 70s, so are in one of our state's priority groups.) I was trying to get an appointment for them, but now that they found one (found it on their own), I'm trying to hunt for one for my mother-in-law (who is both 70 and has a few preexisting conditions, like diabetes and asthma). Our state is such a mess in how vaccine is distributed. Basically, right now, it's a bunch of refreshing and hunting on various pharmacy websites to see if you click at just the right time to get an appointment. I've read that some neighboring states are handling it much better...I blame our governor.

My parents are getting their first dose of the vaccine tomorrow too. They are both over 65 which is one of the requirements in CA. It has been impossible for them to get an appointment but they ended up with 2 this week. They will cancel the second appointment after they get the shot. But just in case the hospital doesn't get the vaccine (supposed to be the first day they have them) they are keeping their appointment for the out of town one just in case.

My T appointment went okay on Saturday (I haven't heard back from the T I messaged from Psychology Today). She was late but she texted me and told me she would be late. She also told me I am the only client she is seeing face to face. This makes me uncomfortable. I don't know why should would pick me out of all her client to see face to face if she is "seeing" everyone else over the phone. I don't feel good about that. I mean I'm happy to see her face to face because the phone doesn't work so well for me with my hearing loss. But I don't want to be singled out or special either.

She asked me if I could trigger for Christianity and other things
Possible trigger:
At first I told her no. She said that's okay. That's not where I'm at, then that's not where I'm at. But I asked my Pastor's wife and another person what they thought....it feels like cheating to me since I have a year + clean. One made a lot of sense. She said, it's still a struggle. It's still something you have to consciously choose to give up. So now I am rethinking it. The other thing is I don't know if I can do this. This is the longest I've been clean, what if I fail spectacularly in the middle? I think my guilt would overcome me at that point. Worse so because I would have promised
Possible trigger:
. Although I guess I would be missing the point of forgiveness.

We talked a lot about coping skills. She says I have a lot of them. She wants me to journal more than I do. And she wants me to catch myself before I fall into the eye of the storm. That's after I've had a bunch of urges and I just decide I don't give a crap anymore. And that's when I do a lot of damage to myself. That's what led to the hospitalization last year. We are trying to avoid the hospital this year.

She was like, how cool would it be to get to 2 years. I was like yeah, that's the goal. Then she asked me a question I wasn't expecting. She asked me how I felt about being clean from it for a year. I don't really know. I mean everyone around me is happy. But I don't think I am necessarily happy. I think I am more stable, but I don't know, I do seem to be in crisis a lot. I'm trying to see if there was growth from last year but it is hard to be objective on oneself.

So I see her again in two weeks. Earlier if I am in crisis. Any advice appreciated. Kit

This weather in Texas and the rolling power outages (or not so rolling) is awful. My niece and her family have been without power since 3AM. It is 47 degrees inside their house. We haven't lost our power (knock on wood) and so far pipes are still open (except for the line to our fridge which is no big deal). School cancelled through Wednesday (when we are expecting perhaps another 4-6 inches of snow and/or ice). No way to even do virtual since so many are without power. We won't get up to above freezing (barely) until Friday afternoon.

Hugs, Kit. I'm not religious, so I can't advise on the propriety of choosing this for Lent in that sense. But it sounds like it's causing you quite a bit of distress to choose this for Lent. Maybe it would be best for you to pick something else to give up for Lent?
Possible trigger:

I hope this was helpful in some way.

Because this is getting close to crossing the guidelines, I think...
Possible trigger:

It kind of sounds like to me she’s out of ideas, so she’s appealing to your religious side.

SK - Do you want to stop or not? I don't see how all the other stuff is anything but distraction. If you don't, then be careful. If you do, then do it for yourself is how I see things.

My mom doesn't want to get the vaccine yet although at 81 she's in the current priority group in her state. She's basically like, I don't go anywhere and nobody comes here anyway, and she wants to wait until there's more known about it. She does go next door to my sister's house and rides in the car to go pick up groceries with my sister, where they bring the bags to your car for you. But that's it.

My mother wants to get the vaccine and is eligible but can’t, because her state is kind of a mess over it—no one knows where to get it or when they will have it to give.

Amazingly, some states must be doing it right, as the US is only behind Israel of major countries in percentage of people fully vaccinated.

Our state is a mess with vaccine distribution. It seems to be the luck of the draw with website refreshing and logging on at midnight. My grandma (who is 80's and lives in another stated) is now fully vaccinated so I feel good about that.

Great question stopdog. The answer is not really. But I really want to stay out of the hospital and the two are linked for me anyway because I can no longer trust myself to be careful. So I have to give up one to make sure I don't end up in the other one. That's why it is such a fight.

I am trying Noom. Anyone had any success with it? Yesterday was my first full day and I was still hungry. That isn't going to work for long if I am hungry all the time. Eventually I'll give up and just eat whatever. Dang AP's make me hungry. The little articles are great. By logging my meals I found I do eat quite a bit of fruit and vegetables already.
