Cabbage is so good for you. And sooooo yummy. I will put like a half or whole box of power greens into a ramen bowl.

My mother used to make garlic sauteed broccoli rabe sandwiches for her hairdresser to fix his stomach. Yum!

Officially turned into an old italian lady. I follow this italian guy on facebook, he might be related, idk, i think half the country has the same last name. Anyway hes our age, and its fun to see how he cooks - half old italian, half martha stewart. In his very rustic looking fireplace in his very rustic kitchen. With an oilcloth tablecloth. And a big ol iron pot.

I really like garlic broccoli rabe.

I have friends who have done the keto diet and lost weight - they just couldn't sustain the diet long term. I think for those that can, it seems to work for them.

Im reading the book about Adeles diet. I have an aversion to green smoothies tho. Ive bought a few, and while they are initially refreshing and delicious, they quickly turn evil.

I need to adopt an IBS friendly, high anti inflammatory diet. Quite a pain because those foods are expensive at my supermarket.

Ive seen the FODMAPS diet. It leaves out all the tasty stuff! Altho with covid, i have a smaller variety of foods because i dont shop as often.

I was lucky at first and I didn't have to be super strict about fodmaps since mine is mostly stress triggered (was mixed type, horrible). But my new SSRI affects things again so I need to adjust.

And then my GP jumped on me for high inflammation so back to more adjusting. He also jumped on me for cholesterol and triglycerides but tbh it's my anti-psychotic -- I had to do all the research myself lol but "FreudAndFashion on Instagram is a psychiatrist and made an educational video)m -- so I'm going to have to ask my psychiatrist if Metformin will help. Since I eat little fat etc, generally healthy etc.

I just plain eat too much of whatever it is. I'm trying to understand why. It started after I had my appendix surgery then kinda leveled out, and then covid happened, and it got out of control again. It's mostly emotional I'm sure, so I really should talk about it with L on Friday. She hasn't brought it up again but I know I should.

I had a nightmare last night, so I'm at camp with my camp friends and one of them brings in this healer person, and he makes us all these health drinks. Mine is an icky shade of green. He says wait and stops me from drinking to pour something orange into it and now it looks even gross-er. We all close our eyes and drink. Suddenly I feel all dizzy and I open my eyes and the room is blurry, when my vision clears I see that I'm in my grandma's old house, sitting in the kitchen and the cabinets are opening and closing of their own volition, the refrigerator opening and closing, bags of food are being shaken by unseen hands and also opening/closing. I say "There's something wrong with me. I need help." I sit on the floor. Then I go outside and sit against the house and pull my knees up to my chest and say again "I need help." But no one comes. Then I woke up.

Power outage in the hospital. Oh goody! Took a minute for generators to kick in. In the wait time, oxygen level went down. He's doing better now that the generators are up and running. It's this freezing weather. Quite a few power outages and rolling blackouts (I'm guessing the hospital is not part of the rolling blackouts - that would not make sense. Probably a transformer.) Nurses are staying in his room monitoring. Hopefully, it won't take too long to get it all up and running again. I suspect the hospital gets quick response from the electric company.

Hugs, Artley. I can't even imagine. I hope they've gotten power back on, surely the hospitals do get ultra priority response from the electric co.

I got to see my son and his gf for a few minutes today, we dropped by their place and gave them some valentine's chocolate and a card. They surprised us, with chocolate for us too and a succulent in a little planter he made on his 3D printer, for our Anniversary today (our 2nd 23rd). eta: it's totally cool the stuff he makes on the 3D printer, he made a little trinket box for his gf, gift card holder, christmas tree ornaments, this planter, etc.

I would have thought the hospital would have its own field of generators in case of such event. Maybe that is more common here in the tornado belt. I hope all is well.

They do. But apparently it takes a bit of time for them to ramp up to full power. He noticed his bipap pressure was not as strong right away - all sorts of bells went off. The first 10-15 minutes were a bit precarious, but then all was okay. Power was down about an hour.

Got word today I was nominated for my school’s top teaching award.

The bad part is I have to send them a statement of my teaching philosophy and I hate writing those. I always come off sounding smug and self-absorbed. (Quiet, una!)

Congratulations. for the award nomination - not the statement of teaching philosophy.
I am not certain I have a teaching philosophy. I would not know how to answer that question. A blend of rf delderfield and mr. chips is pretty much my approach

Maybe he needs a coat so he can go outside.

Alas - I doubt I would be protected from his wrath, even with the bazillion layers of clothing I have on right now, should I attempt such an endeavor. We are, along with much of the country, in a polar vortex for another 5 days or so. So far he has taken some vengeance upon the backyard fauna - but it doesn't really bring him pleasure. It has been hovering around zero for the past week - staying a bit longer than is usual.
