Welcome to the couch, old and new! A place to hang out - sometimes you get immediate feedback, sometimes you don't.

Shouting, "Cool Whip" tends to bring others out from between the cushions if you're feeling lonely.

This is a chatty thread. All are welcome. We're kind of psychologically oriented, sometimes. We try to be supportive. At times we discuss what that means.

It’s a place to plop down on the couch when you come home from work or wherever, or wake up in the middle of the night, or check in at lunch, rant a bit or not, and be among friends.

We advise you not to drink or drug and text your therapist ("T") - we speak from experience.

Sometimes the thread moves fast and you might get overlooked; sometimes it moves slowly and all you hear are crickets. Sometimes you get hugged or thanked pages later. So if it's a bigger question, you might want to start a new thread.

Grab a cushion, a spot on the floor, or an armchair in the corner and make yourselves comfy.

This is the wellness couch because May is Mental Health Awareness Month and I think we can all choose to be nice and kind to ourselves and promote wellness where we can.

Kit sits by the window, grabs a pillow and protectively pulls her legs up close to her chest so her knees are even with her shoulders.

Thanks, Kit! And probably for the best that my TMI post got left on the last couch!

I'll grab a pillow to snuggle, too.

My vacation request got approved so I can go to see my niece for her 17th birthday and go with her to the Monterrey Aquarium, with my sis and the rest of the children. Yay!

Papa are hard. I did get one a couple of years ago and got diagnosed with vaginismus. Simultaneously did a HPV screen (HPV vaccination isn't standard here like other vaccines throughout the schooling years of 6 to 17) which fortunately came back negative.

I forgot who wrote all those great suggestions in the last couch. But yeah, they can go slow, tell you everything they're going to do before they do it,use the smallest speculum, give you breaks to deep breathe, etc.

As for ultrasound of uterus, I didn't have to do a transvaginal. They did a transabdominal one instead. That's non invasive: transducer with conductive gel.

Whenever my old gp asked me when my last pap was i always said 18 months ago and then the next year i would say 18 months ago. It wasnt until i saw him sortly after the last appt and he asked and siad 18 months ago he caught on. This worked for 10 years with various doctors up until this point

I’m intimately familiar with the wand. My first experience was right before my 15th birthday. I had a cyst. I don’t reminder how big it was exactly but the doctor who removed it said it was the size of a large grapefruit. Then the yearly ultrasound thereafter. Can’t forget the monthly ones when we were going through the fertility treatments. I don’t even get bothered when I’m having one done anymore. Though recent therapy revelations paint that first ultrasound in a much different, disturbing light.

I’ve gone through a lot of procedures similar, but the worst by far is the endometrial biopsy. 0/10 would not recommend. I mean unless it’s medically necessary but definitely plan for an easy day and take an OTC pain medication beforehand.

Ugh, the endometrial biopsy and the cervical biopsy were the most horrible things I ever experienced at the gyn's office.

Good luck Kit, you got this!

Morning Couch,

I'm still seething after an organisation that I love being part of announced their intention to keep meetings online, with 'occasional' in person gatherings. I got so much from being in the same room with these people.

It feeds into my fear that things will never be the same again.

On one hand it's a little thing, on the other it means so much - a lot seems to be disintegrating around me at the moment, and I am finding it really hard to cope.

What are you on about? Pages are defined by the user - the last couch was 20 pages by my count. I like a loooooong page.

Morning couch. Hugs and sparkly healing energy to those who want!

We got through a lot of paperwork yesterday - like a huge amount. I literally was saving things like stubs from gas and electric bills that were paid in 2010.

I did go swim laps for an hour though, then sat in the spa for about 10 minutes. I have been sleeping really well since I've been swimming every day. See L today at 1pm. Right now I'm air frying bacon for breakfast...

I'm curious why the post limit? Not questioning it, and not expecting you to know why, just wondering if there's some technical thing behind it. Couch 228--The Wellness Couch
