Mine are in Data!

I was thinking a trash cleanup on Chomolungma would make a nice wedding reception.

I sent my Mom one of those gift boxes that when you open it a bunch of paper butterflies fly out of it. They were having a birthday celebration at my aunt's house and I asked my aunt to record her opening it. It's hilarious. At first she's shocked and then she just laughs with this look of joy on her face. I was worried it wasn't "enough" of a gift (it had a like a individual-sized cake in it also), but maybe that pure laughter was the best gift. I've watched the video many times tonight and it makes me feel good but it also brings out some melancholy in me as well. I might show it to my therapist tomorrow since I told him what I was sending her. Maybe we can explore why it's making me feel sad.

I’d never heard of those so I googled them — they look so cool, NP! I am totally getting one for my BFF’s bday next Spring (and her BF would videotape her opening it for me).

I feel silly but here goes. My therapy homework is to identify the pros and cons of me doing everything alone.

So far, I've only pros. Maybe some of you have some cons you could suggest?

Lack of outside feedback
May deepen sense of loneliness
Allows mind to wander, potentially to difficult places.

Boy thats tough homework! My only comment would probably be, "T, have you not been listening for the past 20 years?!" I was waiting for the day i no longer had the parental or marital albatross weighing on my neck.

Omg that's actually a really good pro hahaha Couch 230: Decent Communications. I get very anxious trying out new things if I'm not alone! Because of the parental and sibling albatrosses following me around physically, criticising everything, or plain didn't want to mind their own business and leave me alone.

For me one big con was that I ended up mightily overwhelming myself when trying to figure out too many things on my own. Also, lately I find that even if I probably could (can indeed if I manage to force or trick myself into), I just ... don't. Feels bleak and aimless.

Also, missing out on the pros of doing stuff together - it's a way to bond, it can make an otherwise unpleasant activity more bearable, it's a way to learn. There are probably more. Of course, all that requires the right person to collaborate with, otherwise all these might easily turn into cons.

So, my classroom is more or less togetherish, but at this point we're just going to aimlessly wander around the classroom talking about whatever random thoughts come up. I guess I better pull my lesson plans together. I have two days to get it in gear. I can do this!

That sounds like a thoughtful, memorable present. Are you maybe feeling sad because you couldn't be there in person? Or were missing your dad? Showing your T seems like a good idea.

Everyone will ascend wearing their spangly striped cleavage dresses and tie-dyed heels, of course. ETA: SD, you can wear a spangly striped cleavage suit if you prefer.

Actually, maybe the next one to get married should be the first to find Irvine’s body.

Just had my in-person interview for a job I really want. I thought it went well but I don't want to get my hopes up. It didn't help that I've been fighting laryngitis and still have it.

Perhaps some good couch juju

The imaging center never called me back on Friday to reschedule like they said they would. Sigh.

So I called them today and instead of scheduling me, they said they were going to have a supervisor call me and they checked my phone number again to make sure it's good.

Okay, this is freaking me out. Like why are they not just scheduling the darn appointment? If it is cancer and they are mucking about I'm going to be very upset. If the supervisor doesn't call me today I am going to be very upset. Sigh.

Betterhelp T--J--wants me to read this book. I ordered it from Amazon, looked at the cover and already think it is woo-woo. The chapters are short though so I could give it a shot. IDK. It seems pointless when I don't really plan to continue with him beyond tomorrow.

Got my hair highlighted on Saturday. The stylist calls it champagne blonde. It's pretty. I feel pretty with my hair this color.

Hugs to all who need/want.

I'm taking an earlier than usual lunch today. I usually wait 5 hours, but I'm taking calls today so I went after 4 hours. Calgon take me away! haha! Actually it hasn't been bad at all. Very busy, calls are back to back, but I haven't had any mean people (yet) so that's a huge plus. 4 more hours of calls (well, 3.75 hours since I'll have a break in there at some point) and then 2 hours of overtime doing my normal job so we don't get behind while taking calls. Wheeeee
