He was 66 - while not that old (I am staring at that age coming up soon myself) -it isn't that young either. Older than my mother when she died. And my person.

Morning couch. I'm in chat the rest of this week at work, it's blissfully slow knock on wood today. I started a new pair of slippers for my brother in law. He goes through them really fast because it's all he wears. Everywhere, even outside. And he wears them 24x7. They help with his neuropathy, apparently, we think it's the different textures in the stitches. I have made him probably a dozen pairs already. My sister has started sewing a leather sole onto them so they last a little longer now. It helps me that this is an easy and fun pattern!

I see Dr K tonight telehealth. Have to tell him about my relapse but it was 15 days ago. It feels like it was ages ago and not relevant although I know in my head that it is relevant. Just it's not fresh in my mind and it's not as urgent. Having an appointment with him last week would have been more helpful. I don't know. Maybe I should find another T or pack it all in and give up on the whole venture. At least I can also talk about my nervousness over tomorrow's diagnostic mammogram and diagnostic ultrasound. He will probably not be sympathetic. He's not the sympathetic sort. He's like, that isn't too long to wait. That isn't a big deal. Well it's a big deal to me. I'm actually not nervous nervous. Just a little worried. If it is cancer I'll deal with it. I was lucky last time because it hadn't spread and was able to be surgically removed. And I do have a cancer insurance policy that will pay out if I get cancer and can't work for a while. Thank you Colonial Life. But it probably isn't cancer. It's likely something benign. Statistically.

I ended up with an unexpected morning off. I'm not quite sure what to do with myself. I mean...I am. I *should* be doing laundry, cleaning the kitchen, yardwork, answering emails. Instead I'm sitting here staring out the window. Think I'll go watch the bees in the lavender and pick tomatoes until it's time to be productive.

Nice! So thoughtful of you to keep your BIL in slippers! Especially because they help his feet so much!

Argh. Don’t feel good, got sent home from work but can’t get a COVID test until tomorrow (and only managed to get that scheduled after half an hour of taking with various uninformed incompetents who had no idea how to handle an, “I’ve been exposed to COVID and now I don’t feel good, please swab me” request). How the EFF is the system for dealing with this still so stupid??? I already don’t feel well and am worried that I might have a breakthrough case (which I would have acquired at work); why are these people making this so hard for me???

Said every participant/victim of modern western medicine:
"I already don’t feel well and am worried that [all sorts of scary things] ..... why are these people making this so hard for me???"
Unfortunately - it is not just around covid - any interaction is about a million times harder than it needs to be (insurance/medicine as a business/fda/pharmacy companies/drug insurance etc). Every person who has entered into an interaction with western medicine has this same experience to varying degrees.

I do hope it is just a cold for people coming down with various symptoms.

Ugh, also hope it's not Covid and that you feel better soon. You would think, with your working at a hospital, that they'd have a system set up to test employees same-day... Will you get the results tomorrow at least?

I've heard there's a bad summer cold going around, too, so maybe it's that?

Thanks! He's a sweetheart too - when I first started making them for him, I was visiting back there and he gave me a present in return, he'd bought me a set of ergonomic crochet hooks in a really cute case that has designs of cats all over it. I really like the hooks, they keep my hand from getting sore while crocheting so I can work on things longer without taking breaks.

Hugs, chihirochild. I hope it's not covid and that you're feeling better soon. I've heard from friends back in the midwest that adult RSV is spreading like wildfire back there - one of my friends, her entire family had it not long ago.

Another of my friends in the midwest is vaccinated (johnson & johnson one) and she had covid already prior to being vaccinated, well she just got sick again and got tested and yep, she's positive again even being vaccinated. I hate everything about this virus.

Agreed. The daily case counts and deaths for my state are up again. They're reinstating an indoor mask mandate for some counties as well.

These words I'm typing seem so unreal, like they should be the dialog in a sci-fi/horror film.
