When I was in college I lived in this one place with window that latched but then slid sideways and one of my cats did figure out how to open the window. My cats have always been strays that were in/out cats so I did not worry.

Good point, there, Penelope is my only actual rescue cat, who was born a stray. She would probably be fine if she got out front again. She was fine the first time she did it (escaped from the backyard underneath the gate).

My windows are pretty hard to open so even if she unlatched it, I doubt she has enough weight to slide it open (it's a sideways one too)

Thanks, Artie! Helps to know you'd do the same.

I mean, I'd do that with a friend or family member (and have before--especially with H), too. But I guess I wasn't sure if it was OK to do that with a T. I guess it only matters if he's OK with it, which he seemed to be. I imagine it may come up in Friday's session.

Hey, there was a murder-suicide in Info's old building once and I did write to check in with her (the news wasn't giving victims' names).

And this place is a total dive bar.

Thanks, that helps to know, too. In this case, they didn't mention types of cars or anything, but someone in the post said it looked like a truck had gone on top of a car and that the car had to be cut into.
And yikes about what happened in her building.

Glad you agree on the dive bar, too! I should have clarified that I meant it in the positive aspects of a dive bar, like you can roll in anytime, you know most of the people, they'll listen to you talk about your problems, etc.

LT - I think your concern is pretty normal. I panicked when T was vacationing and there was a terrorist attack in the city she was at. Thankfully, she was safe, but didn't write me back for a few days because where she was staying had no internet.

Got back from my mammogram and ultrasound. You all were right, it wasn't bad at all. But both technicians had never seen something before which has me worried. I'm supposed to find out the results today. The patient portal won't load it... I hope it's all good.

I wouldn't check on or worry about a therapist because it wouldn't matter to me, but I probably wouldn't check on even people I know and love - I usually assume everyone is okay until someone says they are not.

Except ex-hankster - I am concerned about her -for a lot of reasons

Thanks SD. Ive been dropping little breadcrumbs around PC, sorry about that. Last night i finally stopped freaking out. I think im in the denial stage of grief now, landed on bargaining for a minute, and am closing in on acceptance and hope. The apartment manager told me informally last week that i should find another place to live. He made some suggestions, they should work out, idk. I have 8 months left on my lease, so idk if he is saying before that or what. This was not something i ever expected having to do, but as lizard lady said about her boss leaving, its kicking my butt into gear.

Thanks, Scarlet. That sounds scary!

And I'm glad the mammogram wasn't too bad and hope the results aren't anything to be concerned about. If it's Advanced Radiology, it generally takes a couple days for them to put results on the patient portal.

Hugs, Una. I hope you don't need to be out before your lease is up. I'd think your landlord would have to give you something in writing and a certain amount of notice if you had to leave earlier (basing this on an experience years ago, and it could vary by state). Seems like a good idea to investigate the other options now to be safe. How long have you lived there?

I think this is partly the difference between someone with generalized anxiety and someone without. I was talking to a friend earlier who had similar concerns with her T, and we both said we'd worried about people in our lives being in accidents since we were kids. And we both have anxiety.

Though anxiety can of course show itself in many ways, so perhaps you or others have anxiety related to certain situations/aspects of your lives, but not of the type that would make you think "I hope person who lives/works near there is OK!" when you hear about a serious car accident, tornado, shooting, etc.

A looong time. Almost 15 years this time, and i think 10+ years on a previous lease. I figure i will at least get an official 90 days eviction notice. He was also ASSUMING i would not be able to afford the rent increases - he said, they wont be 20-30 bucks anymore.

We will be having apartment heat conversions (from AC) soon, and he said if not city inspections, then "internal" inspections. So this is where i see bargaining. But i will definitely have to get the butt in gear.

But geez i spent the last week in a panic. Googling apartments from here to timbuktu, almost!

The fire marshal called me back -- he came to the apartment building, found the alarm still ongoing, and issued a fine. He said that someone (maybe the ding-dong secretary) told him the place is undergoing a change of management (this is news to me -- maybe it happened right before I moved here?) and that the new management did not set up the telephone line that connects to the fire alarm panel and this is why it keeps going off. He told me to call him if it happens again, even in the middle of the night.

Here's hoping it doesn't, though, and that my landlord doesn't try to get back at me somehow. (I don't think the fire marshal told them who called, but I have complained to the management multiple times about this alarm and told them in writing that if they didn't fix it I would call the fire marshal... not a very big mystery there, even for the ding-dong secretary.)
