Velcro, I'm so sorry. Have you checked shelters, posted on Nextdoor, flyers, etc.? I would have been convinced my cat was gone forever if people in my neighborhood weren't great about letting me know about sightings. Plus someone may have taken your cat inside out of the cold since he's so cute.

Yeah, I've done all of that ;( I've gotten a couple of phone calls with possible sightings, but by the time I have gotten there, no kitty. Who knows if it was even him. I am so devastated.

Velcro, my cat got out and he was gone for 3.5 weeks. I posted on Facebook and called vets and everything. Finally a neighbor alerted me to a post on a Facebook group for my neighborhood that I didn't even know existed. He was hanging out in this lady's backyard, trying to get into her house! Her two cats would have none of it, though.

I drove over to pick him up and he was just fine, not a care in the world. He had picked up some dirt and fleas but that was all. I counted on the drive back and he was 8 houses away! This was during the summer.

I do suspect that someone took him in for a time, but there's no way to know for sure. And he had been a stray for a short while as a kitten. I adopted him from the shelter, so he was more street-wise than many indoor cats.

I don't want to hold out false hope but, at the same time, don't give up too soon. I wish you all the best.

we were just advised at work that we're going back to working mandatory 60 hours a week for the foreseeable future. I am too old for this.

Vet just called. Stormy has pancreatitis, early kidney disease, and he's slightly diabetic (which she said may recede as the pancreatitis resolves). Triple health whammy, poor guy. She's prescribing him pain meds that we have to get from a compounding pharmacy and he gets to eat chicken baby food for a short time. I'll go pick him up on my lunch break. I told her he's been a super healthy cat his whole life, so this is all very shocking.

Well break is over so back to work with me.

Picked up Stormy from the vet and also stopped by the store and got some chicken baby food for him. He just ate like 3/4th of a jar and seemed to enjoy it. He'll be on pain meds for a few more days, they gave me 24 hours worth at the vet and I pick up the full prescription at the compounding pharmacy tomorrow. not sure why they have to compound it but... whatev. it's called Buprenex (buprenorphine) and he takes it 3 times a day. And we have to start him on insulin now too.

Chicken baby food sounds good! I got lost going to my dr appt but they saw me anyway. My weight is down, yay. But i am exhausted. I was wandering like a Jew in the desert. A cold desert. I took a Lyft home. I didnt go do my labs. Dr is like, its just across the street! I am lucky i made it to my bed here.

I have got to shape up. Right after this nap!

My cat got buprenorphine/suboxone when he had a cyst. It was great because he was so out of it I didn't have to confine him to a crate.

My sweet babe is still missing. My awesome friend brought her doorbell camera to my porch today, to see if I can see him. I have no hope.

That's a good idea, the doorbell camera. I really hope you find your cat. When I see you've posted, I've hoped that it was you saying that your baby had returned home.

Living situation is just getting worse and worse. She might have new tenants coming in after I move out. Said they're paying her a lot because their existing landlord raised their rent price and utilities.

Good for her? I just want to be left alone until I move out.

Twice in less than 1.5 hours, she's ambushed me to basically say I don't know how good she is as a landlady. All I did both times was boil water in the kettle long enough to pour in my mug for my hot chocolate beverage, or into my cup noodles because I eat in my room.

How dreadful of me to behave and though she's bullying me, since she's such a wonderful landlady. My body language and voice tone apparently.

I wake up with back pain and keep my door locked. It's not enough, obviously.

I don't know if this helps or not, but this isn't about you. It's about this landlady's utter toxicity. I wish you were able to tell her how horrible she actually is, but I understand that may not be in your best interest. I hope you're able to get into a better situation soon.

It does help. She's really great at getting inside my head. Plus, the threats of immediate eviction which will mean me being homeless for slightly under 2 weeks.

I'll count down the days left once I finish packing. Glad my sister and her husband are willing to help me move boxes to their home (no, I cannot flee there) for temporary storage then help me move. I'm hoping they won't bail on me because they're incredibly busy and I cannot afford to hire moving services, and don't have a car.

Hugs to all who want/need and head nods around also as appropriate. I can't sleep so I'm up and going to start work at 4am so I can be off at 4:30pm. I have to go to the compounding pharmacy on my lunch break and it's about 40 minutes from my house, so I'll have to take an extended lunch and work a little later. I heard yest we might not be required to do 10 hrs on the mandatory 6th day - hoping it's only a mandatory 4 or 6 hours. That would be much easier.

Ugh, Artie, that sounds miserable. Doesn't seem fair that they can keep adding more OT. Hope you have a shorter workday on day 6. Do you at least make extra for the OT, like time and a half?

And hope the meds help your cat.

Dr. T just shared something from his marriage to relate to something that happened to me last night with D, and I found it to be rather amusing. It was tied to my getting upset with D for laughing at me when I was crying.

He said how his wife loves slapstick comedy (and then proceeded to explain slapstick comedy to me, and I was like, "Yes, I know what that is!"). And when he trips or bumps his head or something like that, she'll just burst out laughing. Which bothers him, because he's annoyed and/or injured. And they might yell back and forth at each other for a minute after, but he said it's over very quickly, as they've been together "a very long time" and he's used to it. But just the image of him tripping on something and her laughing hysterically is kind of great to me.

Apparently UK Wordle players are upset because today's answer,
Possible trigger:
, is an obscure word and they don't know what it is. It's such a common word in the US. What the heck do they call it over there? The article I read didn't say.
