Lost - rest seems to be a hard word for me to define. I can give examples of rest for me, but they might not be the same for you. Normally, when I think of rest, I think of napping or sleeping. For me, it also includes cuddling with my dogs or blankets, taking a shower and putting on lotion, watching a movie. Nothing strenuous or stressful. Just soothing self-care things.

Thanks, Scarlet.
'Nothing strenuous or stressful' makes a lot of sense to me. I feel rested when I manage to get into a flow state, but that doesn't happen very often. It seems that rest has become harder for me during this latest grief experience. I'm spending a lot of time and energy trying to figure out what to 'do' with it... A couple of sessions ago, R said something like 'Sometimes there's nothing to do but feel.' Feeling things is scary, though. __________________ 'Somewhere up above the great divide Where the sky is wide, and the clouds are few A man can see his way clear to the light 'You have all the grace you need for today, and today is all that matters.' - Steve Austin |

Rest for me is trying to let go of the present stress/anxiety/depression...whatever is controlling me at the moment. I deliberately tell myself that I need to put this away in a box for the rest of the night. I literally did it last night because I was waiting on an email response from my job, and knew it wouldn't be until today.
I have to take off another week of work because my feet are not improving. This is a MONTH of not getting paid, and having to pay for doctor's appointments and medications. I am relieved I don't have to work, but it is extremely stressful, financially. I also called my boss earlier to just check in and tell her how awful I feel that she has been scrambling for a month to fill my position in the classroom. It is NOT easy, and I bet she has been in the room with them. I also miss my babies. I was supposed to follow up with the ortho doc on April 19th, 6 weeks from my first visit. I was supposed to start work next week, and would have had to work in extreme pain for another few weeks just to tell the doctor my pain hasn't improved despite everything I've been trying. When I saw my doctor yesterday, she said she would call their office to see if they can move my appointment up. I had tried, but they said I had to wait the 6 weeks. Well apparently doctors have more authority, because I am now seeing him Friday morning. I hardly can believe this is my life. My apartment is a ***** hole, and yet I do nothing to clean it. |

Captioning better but still not up to par. Too many inaudibles.
And sometimes the sound quality was so bad that the captioner (on Zoom) didn’t realize that someone in the room was speaking and so there was a gap. Unfortunately during one of these people were trying to ask me about something my committee was doing but I didn’t know that because there were no captions. If the captioner can’t hear, I can’t hear. Nor have they gotten the equipment ADA asked them to get two months ago. I don’t know why they can’t just give me an in-person captioner like I’ve asked for all along. __________________ The secret to eternal youth is arrested development.—Alice Roosevelt Longworth |

HUGS Lost
For me rest is usually like laying in my lazyboy watching a mystery movie, or taking a nap. I also rest by prayer or scripture reading. I also rest by going for a car ride with my Dad. He drives, we get a drink through the drive through and he'll take me on a 1.5 hour drive or 2 hour drive and then I start feeling better. HUGS kit __________________ Dum Spiro Spero IC XC NIKA |

My Mom is in the hospital. She was taken there by ambulance on Monday night. She got admitted. She's been fatigued/exhausted, dizzy, no appetite, she fell the other day on the tile, etc. Her blood sugar is high then low. Her blood pressure has been low which is weird because it is usually high. She had an MRI and CT scan which came back clear. She's had a bunch of urine tests and blood work. She might have a bladder infection or uti. We'll see. Her GP has hospital privileges so he has been in to see her and has ordered some tests. Hopefully she will get discharged tomorrow. I took yesterday off of work because I was exhausted and because I wanted to go visit my Mom in the hospital.

I had a good session with my T.
My T recommended The Neurodivergent Friendly Workbook of DBT Skills A workbook of Dialectical Behaviour Therapy Skills reframed to be neurodivergent friendly with the added bonus of accessible mindfulness practices, sensory strategies and managing meltdowns. By Sonny Jane Wise. The Neurodivergent Friendly Workbook of DBT Skills - Digital Download — lived experience educator The other DBT workbook I am doing I am not relating to the examples in the book. So she thought this might be a good fit. No T has ever really worked with my autism diagnosis so that's kind of cool. She was super happy that I didn't SH. I told her that I did it for her, not for me. She was like, whatever works. But of course, at some point, I need to do it for me. She was fine with me telling her I was annoyed about the session time. We talked about it a little tiny bit. She apologized for real this time. It was good. She said she was happy that I could tell her. __________________ Dum Spiro Spero IC XC NIKA |

hugs, Kit. I'm sorry to hear your mom's in the hospital; sending good thoughts for a quick recovery and good test results.
Also hope you're able to get some rest. And that the new DBT workbook is helpful for you. Glad you had a good session. |

Oh no, I hope they figure out what it is and that it's nothing serious! Low BP to me would suggest an infection, from my limited medical knowledge. Sounds random, but have they checked for an ear infection? Just thinking with the dizziness. That's happened with my mother-in-law a couple times, where she was really dizzy and sick, and it turned out to be an ear infection. Or, one time, where she'd fallen and some crystal thing within her ear shifted--I forget how they treated that. |
