I'm being referred to a mental health clinic in the area i live in England, and i'm terrified, i can't find anything about it on the internet, or the NHS website and i don't know what to do.

not knowing how i feel it making it worse, i want to go because i want to get better, but i'm just so scared and i don't know what to expect.

I had a therapist a while ago, at a private clinic, but i didn't talk much, or remember much from then, which is making me more confused and stressed.

I hope someone can help

thank you

Hi jai-jai

Feeling nervous before something new is to be exptected. New things can feel unfamiliar and that can make us feel anxious. But remember that all familiar things began as something unfamiliar

What is it you'd like to find out before you go? Can you phone them to ask about those concerns?

You had trouble talking before but you may feel different this time and you may find talking not so hard. You can tell your therapist about your worry and your therapist will help you with this.

So, you can't know what you don't know. This is new and you will know it more as you experience it and the only way to experience it, and to know it and feel familiar with it, is to go and see what it's like.
Thanks for this!

Breathe! No need to worry. This is probably one of the new mental health clinics that were set up after the Lord Layard report and the start of Improving Access to Psychological Therapies. These centres are set up for easy access to therapy!

You go girl!

I do the exact same thing - I try to find information on the internet before I go someplace new.
I was lucky because my T has a website with pictures of herself, her office and all her furniture, as well as a description of her background and experience. I knew exactly what to expect when I went there. (although she had cut her hair shorter)

But the last partial program I was referred to had NO information on the internet, and I was really scared to go.

I like Echoes' suggestion to call and find out as much as you can.
Or maybe you can pop over there before your scheduled appt to at least find out what it looks like from the outside?

I wish I could be more helpful, but just wanted to let you know you are not alone. Try to be strong - you can do this!!!!!
Good luck and let us know how it goes.
