K so like, I give out samples at Sam's club and we have to get customers to buy what they tried. However the greater emphasis is on greeting the customers, telling about the product, and encouraging the customers to buy. Basically, reciting selling points is the key, even if they don't end up buying. I started out completely freaked out approaching ppl. Then I kinda engaged them more, although I let some customers pass by. Now I can actually lure them to my cart and I don't let anyone slip by ungreeted. Well, maybe 9 or 10 out of 100+.

What really pisses me off is that despite my improvement, I failed my audit reciting my selling point. I gave it my best shot and everything. We get audited daily, so idk y I sucked yesterday. Was it bc I asked customers to try a product instead of telling them to? This is what happens after I nearly got chewed out for letting customers slip by? I just need to know.

I don't mean to blame others but I'm just confused.

I know, this job isn't as easy as it looks! I did men's cologne before Father's Day one year (Would you like to try some Canôn cologne? I can't believe I still remember my pitch, 40 years later!), cigarettes (boy did people yell at you for that!), and jelly - I thought I would never eat jelly again!!! I still cringe when I see the brand at the grocery store. Oh well - somebody decided what they wanted the script to be, what steps you should follow, what should make the most sales. The problem for me always was, as I started to engage with people, my personality came out, and people liked it, but it wasn't the script, but it got some sales, so I thought it was okay, but the bosses didn't, just the customers did. But the customers aren't paying you. So yeah, you do the best job you can, better than they could expect, and you still get yelled at.

I thought I'd say that my boss doesn't like me. She used to, but... I'm otherwise doing fine at this job other than my sales pitch. I got good attitude, got along with everyone, and put in 110% effort. My coworkers all like me. Still, my schedule got less hours now. Help?

So do you need to memorize the sales pitch so it becomes automatic? It's like an acting job, for a commercial, where they don't want you to ad-lib. Will you be on this one product long? or at Sam's Club for long? But I'm so happy for you! I thought this was a fun (but TOUGH) job and I think about going back to it sometimes. It takes a person with "personality plus" AND being able to harness that energy - not easy!!!

Thx. Selling is no longer my problem. I could do it naturally now. However, I'm the most disorganized person ever. Either I take a long time to complete a task or I forget to do it altogether. Sometimes I forget the supplies I need to complete a task. It's getting on ppl's nerves when they constantly have to remind me to do certain stuff or get something. Mostly my disorganization happens when I'm setting up and breaking down my cart. I wrote a list now and it helped a lot. However, yesterday, I tried to sell cappuccino and crescent rolls and totally screwed up bc of the disorganization. I had to change to oranges in the middle of my shift and did fine on that one. Still, my boss is very upset that this happened.

I would ask your judges what you got wrong yesterday. I would imagine they want more sales (bottom line) so selling points would be big with them.
