*boyfriend with unhealthy obsessions about a celebrityI have a boyfriend and we only started dating recently but I found out he has a really unhealthy obsession with Justin Bieber. He watches the believe movie every day almost, he dresses like him, has his hair cut like him and hes now getting the exact same tattoos. He has wild mood swings and I dont know how to handle it or help him. Please help me!

What is it that you're asking for help with? Changing your bf? Sorry there is nothing you can do about that nor do I have suggestions on changing someone else.

If you're asking for help with how to deal with this yourself, that's a different thing. you need to learn to either accept the way he is, or move on.

Nothing in anything you've said tells me he's doing anything *to* you at all or should this affect you directly other than you think it's an odd behavior, which I agree with but is it really hurting you? If so, how?

I might add you said you only started dating recently and obviously have a 'working' knowledge of justin bieber---he has tattoos???---and you never noticed the hair cut???

That said, unless justin bieber himself creeps you out (again you saw the haircut coming, so evidently it didn't creep you out enough not to date this guy), in which I'd say just walk away....then if he looks anything like bieber, and can sing...you might want to get behind his obsession. There is quite the calling for impersonators.

Of course, JB is having a few public relations issues at the moment so best your bf put that off for a bit. hehe

Eh, run. Unless he is really young this sort of emulation of celebrity is not healthy (really.... tattoos?).

He just started getting his tattoos after we started dating which is about a month or less. The hair cut is fine its not that he looks bad its that he is not mentally well. He gets really depressed and aggravated randomly and his obsession is like is distraction. but it doesn't really last long and i dont know how to help him. he can't sing and he hardly ever wants to socialise. im worried about what happens we cant do anything more to become like JB? what then?

I'm the one that has to deal with his either really aggravated, depressed moods which means i either get yelled at, or i have to deal with his suicidal thoughts and feeling of worthlessness. Its hard to deal with such overwhelming emotions everyday. Hes such a nice guy in between his moods and he can't help himself. he told me himself he needs help. He has no one else, he is all alone no family or friends

I think most are missing the fact that he might possibly have a mental disorder (bipolar?) and just advise the OP to ditch him. (Compassion, anyone?) I'm not sure if there is much of anything you can do to help him until he realizes he has a problem and he wants help. Unfortunately, for many, this means that he will have to hit rock bottom on his own.

Then he needs to get help. If he knows it, that's a start but he needs to do something more than just say 'i need help' . About the only thing you can do is encourage him to follow through with the help but once again for such an early phase in a relationship, I don't know how much is worth investing into this.

Also another thought is maybe you should take a break. let him get a grip on his issue, get help and then come back together to see if it's worth pursuing. It may even help him to have the motivation to get the help he needs.

In any case the way it's going if it's that much of a burden on the relationship, it's not going to get better without him doing something.
