I don't really feel like getting out of the house without a purpose. My relatives and friends find it strange, problematic even. I never were the type that would go out more than 1-2 times a week (apart from work and programmed hobbies). And currently I don't have a job. Currently:
-I'm 100% broke and living with my parents. I sometimes spend an entire week with 1 euro in my pocket. -I'm balancing my day between sending CVs and exercising myself on graphic arts (I want to try going pro as soon as possible). It's time-consuming. -I have very few friends to go out with (2-3) and I'm single. So apart from 2 times a week, which is when I go at my theatrical team, I may literally not go out of the house the whole week. My parents see me in front of the PC all day, and even my dad who works with computers has expressed some worry. I just want to get a job the soonest possible, and feel I'm happy with spending a lot of time alone...Am I being weird? I mean, the negative type of weird? |

It's not that you are being weird, but you may not be fulfilling your goal of finding a new job the best way you could. Finding a job is much, much easier if you have a wide variety of social contacts to draw upon.
But, yeah, if you have a budget of 1 euro a week, it's hard to go out. If your parents are really worried, would it be possible that they would pay for some sort of graphic arts course for you? That would get you out of the house, let you meet contacts who could help with your career goal, and also give you a purpose ![]() |

I would have loved that, but the very reason I spend the week like this is because all the family has it hard...crisis has taken its toll on us

Are there any employment agencies in your area? You might want to look into those - it'd be another set of eyes looking for work.
It's fine to not spend money on social things when you're flat broke. But going for walks and sitting around having a good chat are always viable. And taking little walks on your own would be good for you health and it's usually a good stress relief!

Fun thing is, just walking without a purpose stresses me out more...for example, if I want inspiration for an art piece I may do it, but simply strolling around the same old (jobless) neighborhood makes me think of all the things I could do back home. I feel I'm losing time from things I'd be enjoying more, from things that could add to my job-finding chances too. And it just stresses me out-or bores me, in the best case. I could go to other places, but half the time I have to be a metro freeloader and I hate it. And I hate having to deny my friends the coffee shop, telling them to just sit on a bench and chat. I'd feel bad, then they'd offer to buy me, and I'd feel worse. I hate asking my parents for money too, I'm 27, not a baby girl
![]() Nope, no employment agencies in my area...only some "employment seminars" or "employment trainers" that just eat time (and in some cases, money) ![]() Thanks for the suggestion, though ![]() I'm (probably) accepted in a national "employment program", but it'll take 6 months of work before I get paid...ant then it's over...and it's very little money anyway ![]() |

If you are happy with what you are doing and how you are spending your time, don't sweat it. You are learning skills that will help with your employment, right? Do you have a good chance of getting a job with the graphic design?
If you ever got to the point where you were dreading leaving the house, that would be a bad sign, in my opinion. As it is, it sounds like you are just really eager to work on your projects at home. |

Hvert - Oh no, I'm not dreading leaving the house
![]() I won't exactly become rich with graphic arts...but at least the market for it isn't non-existent here. There are a few places hiring, and I can go freelance if everything else fails. It's not a glamorous job, but I know I can survive...and I like it ![]() |
